So glad it's over! Between studying and having a newborn (had to push my test date back), I didnt have a summer. All of it is worth it in the end and hopefully I never have to look back. I was only able to apply to my closest state school due to my circumstances but I am pretty confident even though my GPA is only about 3.4.

My quick thoughts about the test:
-I went over Chad's videos and Destroyer each twice. Chad's+Destroyer=Great chemistry scores. Period.

-PAT was significantly harder than CDP. All of the shapes were more complex.

-Didn't study much for QR as my score indicates, but I noticed the questions were identical to ones from Math Destroyer. If you go through all the tests and figure out how to do the problems quickly you should do very well. I focused more on the sciences and ran out of time to study more for this.

-I also used Topscore. The questions were not very similar but it was good to get used to the timing of the DAT.


If anyone has questions I'll be glad to share my thoughts or post my practice test scores if anyone is interested. I don't feel the need to do a detailed breakdown unless it's asked for because I did what most people on this site do and tried to model my study schedule off of the one posted in the forum.

I only used qvault for bio. My scores were 18/18/17/18/18/16/18/18/18/20. The questions were somewhat similar to qvault but what qvault really does is show you how they structure questions and help you figure out what areas you are weak in. Again, I only took it for biology but I can't speak for the other sections.

How was your Kaplan and topscore practice tests? are they close to the real thing?

I did the free kaplan practice test like a year ago before I studied for anything. I did awful and don't remember anything about it. As far as Topscore I only took 2 of the tests. I didn't think the questions were very similar but it was good to get use to the timing of the DAT although I ran out of time in a few sections on the actual test like QR and PAT. My actual DAT was much easier in the sciences.

Topscore Scores (PAT/QR/RC/BIO/GC/OC/TS/AA):

Test 1: 20/20/19/18/17/16/17/18
Test 2: 21/21/20/17/17/19/18/19

Thanks! For those of you who still have to take the test keep putting in the work. It really pays off in the end. During my test I felt like I was doing horrible so don't get down on yourself just keep fighting through it.

i just got finished with physics 1. I have taken bio1 chem1,2 and in the fall will be taking orgo1 bio2 and spring orgo2 phy2. how long did u study for the dats? i need a score like that because ive been getting all B's 🙁 FML

It took me all summer but my schedule wasn't consistent. I was planning to study right after school got out until I took the test originally scheduled for the end of june. However, I had some things happen this summer that made me have to push it back and my study schedule was all out of whack. I would say if I studied 7 days a week I could have gotten it done in about a month and a half. I would suggest trying to follow the sample study schedule that was posted as close as you can. I have about a 3.45 gpa and am pretty confident with these scores.

My test was on Tuesday and I took my practice tests on the Friday and Saturday before.

haha that's pretty much the same plan i have right now. My test is on wednesday and I took topscore 2 today. I'm not sure if i'm fully ready for it tho. I got 18 bio 19 gchem 21 ochm 23 pat(CDP) 20 RC 22 QR. Would you say the RC on the real test was similar to topscore? Similar as in mostly easy passages to do search and destroy and few tone questions that are in chronological order?

My DAT was similar but the passages were a bit more complex. Questions were not in order. My strategy was to skim through the passage and write down in a few words what each paragraph was about. I then went through the questions and referred to that. I had to do a bit of s&d because I didnt catch everything the first time. A few tone questions.
