Hey everyone,

I just completed the DAT today. I did very well, but could have done better. This is not a hard exam, it really just depends on what questions you get on your particular exam. I got a:

20 PAT - 88.2%
25 QR - 98.5%
22 RC - 85.3%
20 Bio - 89.5%
25 GChem - 97.5%
25 OChem - 98.0%
22 TS - 96.6%
23 AA - 98.4%

I normally do a lot better on PAT, but I do not know what happened today. RC was simple, I want to know the questions I missed. I really think I only missed 3 or 4, so I guues a lot of people have been getting them all right. Bio was not bad at all. I know I missed some %$#^ on ecology and plants. I think it is so irrelevant to the DAT, but I guess the ADA does not!!! I am good at math, so QR is never a problem. I was VERY happy with my Gchem and Ochem scores though. When I finished the Nat. Sci. section, I knew that I did well, but it seemed that I did a little too well if you know what I mean. I was a little too relaxed. Anyways, I am very happy to say the least. On the bio, my first 2 of my first three were about plants! At that point, I thought I should start looking for another career, however the remaining 98 questions turned out OK.

nice scores...congrats!!!! how do you do the QR so fast? especially with multiply all those numbers out...and word problems and all. For the RC....what is your strategy...road map or skim?

I really don't have an answer to the QR section. I am a math person, and I don't really have to study for it. For the RC, I read the quesitons, then I skim the passage and write down keywords in each paragraph, followed by answering the quesitons. Works well for me. The only "tirck" to doing well on the DAT is practice. Develop your own startegy.

These scores reflect on how well students last year did on the DATs. If you look at the percentile for the Total Science section, the OP got a 96.6 with a 22. When I took the test last year in September, I got a 22 but my percentile was something lke 97.3 i think.

This is proof once again that a LOT of very talented students are seeking dentistry as a career.

Kaplan book and my old textbooks from undergrad classes if I needed further reinforcement of the subject

Are you referring to the Kaplan book from the class or the blue one?

Congratulations by the way on your scores! Your hard work definitely paid off here.

Do you remember what subjects they asked for Reading part?

I would like to know too. English is my 2nd language and I am going nuts with this section. I never have enough time to finish it. 🙁

I remebr one was on a cell bio topic, and one passage was on infectious diseases. I can't remeber the third. The English was not too complex on the passages. Try doing as many SAT reading comp. practice tests as you can. The topics are not as hard as DAT ones, but they will give you a lot of practice on time management. Good luck
