I was wondering, in school so far I have gotten by with making flashcards for my lectures (it is time consuming, but I try to organize myself so that I have sufficient time to review my cards)...and it has helped me a great deal in cementing a lot of key concepts and things that require rote memorization

my question is that for the COMLEX, what would you guys think of studying off of flashcards for First Aid? Because from what I've heard the "bugs and drugs" discussed in FA suffice for the COMLEX, so cards would help me remember them...

Of course, this doesn't mean making these cards my only reference, but sort of as a backbone, possibly coupled with Goljan's newest path textbook and the Kaplan COMLEX book series?

I think that if you know flashcards work for you, then you should stick with them. I am not a big flashcard user. But, what I did was make flashcards while going through FA the first time. I've gone through them several times and I think that has worked great. I did some flashcards with basic concepts. But, most of my cards are case scenarios based on disease processes found in FA. I've used a lot of other sources too, for more depth and understanding. But, the cards have helped a lot with rapid recognition. With that said, my test is Thursday, so I don't know if my strategy has been effective 😕.

I believe you have the right idea. Learn the material properly the first time through, go through your notes which you're familiar with a second time, and then use the review books as just that, review. It is more time consuming, but I believe you'll be better off if you put the time into it.

FA is a great review book, just watch for some errata
