Got access to both DD and 1st aid. Seems like 1st aid is more comprehensive. Should I go with that + board mastery / past exams?

I have no issue with wasting time. I just need a pass. I'm near the bottom of my class so light review is probably not the answer for me.

How long would you recommend studying for it? I'm thinking of starting after fall semester. My test is Jan 30 so about 6 weeks of studying.

You are talking abut Part 1, correct? If so all I used was the boards mastery app and old exams for a pass. I attempted dental decks but the amount of information seemed like a ridiculous waste of time.

Dental mastery app is insufficient on its own. The occlusion questions are also a lot harder on the real exam. Also there were 30-40 repeats from the ASDA practice tests. I’d imagine if you went through the app and ASDA questions you could pass, but you’d be lacking the working/non working movements/ cusp tip locations/special dental anatomy traits/etc — cutting it close. I’d recommend at least watching the YouTube video on 300 things for NBDE.

Heck I think if you just memorized the YouTube video 300 things to know for NBDE + learn occlusion in 5 mins you’d pass. The exam is heavily weighted on the dental anatomy aspect — you could miss about 50% of all other subjects and still pass if you ace the dental anatomy part. I had a classmate who failed twice because he focused on his weak subjects biochem and micro/path. He got 74 both times!!! I told him just to focus on dental anatomy and head neck anatomy = he finally passed.

Oh yeah you’re totally correct about occlusion, I forgot to add aside from app I did go over occlusion cusp pathways, but for that all you need to do is make sure you can draw the picket fence etc, it was also a very insignificant part of my exam. Also the repeats is pure luck, I’ve had friends say they had tons of repeats and then some like myself I didn’t see one repeated question.
