is the first cut just strictly based on DAT and GPAs? or do they actually look at the whole file (LORs, essays, ECs) before they send the secondary.

and for schools like asdoh, nova, unlv, western, etc that pretty much send everyone a secondary, do they look at the whole file+secondary before deciding if you get an interview?

i'm pretty sure most schools have a first cut then place the rest in a pile for further continual review until it comes time that the class has been filled and then they can reject them

it appears to me that some schools have certain number cut off and do it early, it takes something special about that person to keep application on if numbers are lower than their designated lines. If you look at predents info and compare rejection lists schools like Case start rejecting people right away- you see rejection dates as early as July. Other schools like Creighton seems to keep all info and accept-waitlist- reject lots of applicants on Dec 1. Other than that it is hard to say if they cut you off right away but keep application until Dec 1.
Then again schools like BU send their rejection letter somewhere in the spring. Does that mean they give your app more consideration than other schools or does that means that BU starts considering applications later than other schools and do not finish creating their class until summer... while schools like Marquette pretty much done by January...

All I know is the first cut is the deepest...

I don't think its strictly based on GPA and DAT since I were interviewed and accepted at competitive schools such as columbia and Stony Brook, but I was flat out rejected by tufts, Temple, Buffalo and maryland without even an interview. Its mind boggling.
