Hey all,

So tomorrow begins my first day of rotations as a P1. It is at a Giant Eagle pharmacy and am getting mighty nervous as it creeps closer to go time! I have worked at CVS pharmacy for about 2 years so have some experience as a pharmacy tech but I'm still a little worried about being thrown to the dogs with a new computer system and meeting an all-new staff and what not.

Anybody have any advice on what their first day of rotations was like? I want to make an awesome first impression and not fumble around with my words!! Thanks in advance 🙂

You shouldn't worry about it at all. You have experience working at CVS, so it won't be that different. Just take a deep breath and go for it. Good luck!

As a P1 they likely aren't going to make you do anything rough, I don't think any preceptor would drill you or expect you to do much outside of counting meds, working a register and basic tech work with some observation of what the pharmacist does. Confidence really is important though when interacting with patients and other professionals, if you don't know something don't choke and don't guess at it, just say "let me look that up for you." I did rotations P1 year and much of it was observational stuff with tips given to me here and there, they know you haven't had intense pharmacology or therapeutics yet.
