Hey guys,

My top choice school is USC and I got an interview in vite for the november 18th date and I am scared like no tomorrow!!

I have no expeince interveiwing. How do I prepare? And WHAT THE HECK DO I WEAR!!!

It's esay for the guys to just pick out a grey or bule suite but it's no so easy for us girls. I was going to buy a balck suite but peolple are telling me your not supposed to wear black b/c it looks like your going to a funeral....is that true?

Arrrgghhh.....i'm confused.

Well, hopefully I'll be pondering this question myself in a couple of months, but my best advice (after a few job interviews) is to BE COMFORTABLE. Whatever you decide to wear, just make sure you feel good in it.

Congrats on your interview and good luck!

First....slow down.......we know you're nervous - your spelling is awful😉 !

You don't want to screw up something that simple on the essay (if they have one....so, slow down!!!!)

Now...realize - USC took Zpak, so it can't be that tough (j/k'ing again😀 )

Seriously....go to the USC thread. I can't really comment on your choice of suit color/style...but, I firmly believe in wearing what you find comfortable, but still maintain a formal business approach. What I did with my daughter when she was applying to medical school was make an appt with a personal shopper at Macys. I'd do it again!!!! The woman knew exactly what was appropriate for her age/circumstance/size, etc... My daughter had about 10 choices with alternate blouses. She ended up with brown skirt suit & a wine colored pant suit & was accepted to 9 medical schools - so I don't think black is your only option.

Now...as for your interview content - read the interview threads! That will give you an idea of what can be asked of you. Have your roommate/SO/parents/etc.....ask those questions of you in an interview format...you sitting in a chair across from a table/desk, etc.... The best way for you to be comfortable responding to the questions is having someone ask them of you & you actually answering. Then that person needs to be willing to give you real feedback (ie - you're stumbling, your answer is not clear, you're fidgeting, you don't look the interviewer in the eye, etc...)

Let us know if we can help more....

Congratulations!

Well, here is some good news. Because you're in the first group, your chances of being accepted are good since the majority of candidates in this round get accepted.

Wear something professional. A black suit is fine. If you want to stand out, wear a grey or tan suit. The interview will be 20 min. Be prepared for what they will ask you. Relax, smile, and be enthusiastic!

dont worry about the suit, its the personality that will really shine. although i did remember meeting a girl who dared to do a white suit (still pulled it off).
anyways, look into the pharmacy interview feedback forum for the kind of questions they may ask. its really helpful.

and good luck🙂 knock em dead

Having your family and friends can be a great preparation, but I recommend you go above that. Check out what your university/college offers in their career center. I took a free class from my university's career center on behavior-based interviewing. I leaned a lot of skills I didn’t realize I was missing. Plus the instructor was a great resource for any other questions, like what to wear, what's a good handshake, how to answer questions in a group interview, etc. Best of Luck!

Hi!

I will be at the USC Nov Interview too and I am also extremely nervous. Does anyone know the percentage of people from 1st rounnd got in after the interview? Is it based solely on the interview (closed-file?) 'cause my stats are not that great but I am pretty ok at writing and communicating.

Thanks alot. This forum is the best!

yea it's by a prof and student at the same time, then theres a writing sample where you summarize an article you read for 5 minutes. very laid back atmosphere and they were organized but it is possible to get a prof and student that arent so enthusiastic. ive mostly heard great things but i had the unenthusiastic interviewers last year so just gotta keep your fingers crossed 😀

I heard they gave out about 150 interviews for Nov

USC took me...because I represent "Spoiled Children" like no one can..

The best advice I can give is prepare for the interview as other have suggested (practice answering questions, study up on the school) but on interview day, the best thing to do is relax and be honest and sincere in your answers!

my recommendation: don't over-practice for interviews. you should have a good idea of who you are, why pharmacy, and why usc

you should be able to answer any questions they might raise from that essay they make you write for the interview. side note: that's the only piece of info the interviewers will have about you.

relax, be calm, and be yourself. good luck. i'll be there helping out that day. so i'll see you there ... good luck
