I'm off to a bad start. A in 2 of my classes (history/humanity), B in next 2 (Chem 1/ pre-calc), and [because of a crappy administrative problem] an F in my 1.0 credit chem lab [retaking it over the summer to get an A to average out to a C].
I'm planning on joining the pre-med honor society at my school, shadowing my doctor during the summers, and have 2+ years experience lifeguarding (which I've been told will help as far as medically relevant experience goes)

Keeping in mind a solid extracurricular/experience record, what is the cutoff GPA/MCAT for lower tier MD schools here? DO schools? Carribbean MD schools (American University, Ross, etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you mean you're in your freshmen year, I wouldn't worry about anything just yet. There isn't really a "cutoff" that I'm aware of. Schools (whether top 10, mid tier, or low tier) look at not only your grades and mcat, but also your EC's, leadership, research, life experiences, background, etc.

Retake your chem lab and get an A. Work hard to get an A in the rest of your classes from here on out. But don't forget to work on your EC's as well, including getting involved with a service-oriented activity; and stick to it (to a point where you have a strong leadership position in it).

Lifeguarding is an excellent extracurricular, but I wouldn't exactly say it's a medically related experience.

There are general cutoffs, but you don't want to be near this cutoff. Stay above it as much as possible. It's your first semester. You're adjusting to college. There's not much to worry about as long as you adapt quickly.

Administrative problem? I hope that you don't mean some sort of academic integrity violation.

Putting that aside, you have a long time to improve, this is just one semester.

Jeeze, quit fussing, it's way to early in the game for that.

Here's the avg for matriculants:

MD: 3.4 and ~30MCAT for lower tiers
DO: 3.4 and 26+
Carribean: No reqs other than still breathing and able to write an up-front full tuition check.
