hey guys, i'm halfway into the semester and it seems i'm not averaging out that 3.8 gpa. at the moment i am taking physics 1, orgo 1, calculus 2, and social psych.
social psych is rather easy to get the grade, so no worries there.calculus 2 was a problem because i ignored it (took it in highschool p.s. i'm a junior)and turns out i had forgotten it. i'm not upright failing it but i don't have that high A wanted.
here is the real problem. organic chemistry lab is kicking my ass with all these B's in lab for some strange reason. the report itself has no problems but its the postlab questions and quizzes that's messing up my A. the lecture was initially okay with an A in the class but stereochemistry creeped up to give me a B on the exam. physics lab is also kicking my ass because i was basically following the chemistry lab report format (no one wants to see raw data physics TA). hopefully i can adjust so that the 2 labs i got d's don't affect the overall. physics lecture is easy because only the test (and attendance) are part of the grades but my problem with physics is the long term comprehension for the MCATs. i essentially take all notes on onenote so all MCAT courses are easily available for me. however, it seem impossible for me to take physics notes because it seems physics isn't even heavy on concepts. it is those tiny details in every problem that throws me off. i can't really take notes on every type of problems i occur. so my questions are (or is)...
1. how did you guys deal with the particularities of physics even though the concepts are understood. is it recommended to keep doing multiple problems at least every week until MCATs for ideas and nuances to be second nature.
2. how did you guys take orgo notes? at the moment i write down the concepts of the chapter (i.e. carbocations and stability) then write the reactions/mechanisms pertaining to the concept.
3. i was thinking of taking notes on laboratory techniques over winter break. should i bother with it since hypothetically i should be well versed with techniques by the end of orgo 2.
p.s. i'm not takine MCAT this junior year or summer after junior year.
