Hi everyone,

I am applying to a vet school this year for the first time so excuse me if some of my questions seem silly. This is also my first shot at the VMCAS.

In terms of experience, what exactly should I include and how? I have worked at a vet clinic, so that's going in there, but I also have *extensive* cat showing experience (yeah, I'm one of THOSE people ;-), have taken lots of riding lessons through college, went to horse camp when I was in middle school, and went to animal farm camp way back in elementary school. I've owned lots of cats and dogs since I was born (my mother is a vet so instead of brothers and sisters I had animals...although maybe they aren't that different really).

How do these things get included? Which things should get left out? Basically those were recreational activities that are animal-related. How did you guys put things like that in there?

Thank you!

Regards,
Cornish

I was in the middle of composing an exasperated reply along the lines of "if you're smart enough to get into vet school you're smart enough to use the &%#$@& search function."

Really, there have been like a dozen independent threads lately where people seem to think they're the first person asking about how to classify a particular experience - and six of them were on research.

BUT... I understand if you're not a regular that you might not have seen those threads, and also that VMCAS is way daunting and doesn't necessarily lead us to our most rational coping strategies.

So instead, I've started a new thread which is entitled "How should I classify this experience?" Everyone with an experience question can post it there, and anyone who wants to give advice about your particular situation can do so.

In the mean time, just try putting "experience" in the "search this forum" box, you won't get anyone with *exactly* your issue but probably some that are similar enough to draw guidance from.

:luck:

Edit: In an attempt to actually be helpful, I answered some of Cornish's questions in the new thread.
