I'm starting my first year of pre-pharmacy at a 6 yr program (Duquesne Unviersity). I'm stright out of high school and would like to know what peoples first pre-pharm yr experience was like....how much studying, partying (if any), social life/free time, daily schedule, hardest classes, what tests were like, grades, helpful hints. My schedule consists of Calculus which I already took in high school,Biology which I took the AP course as a senior, Chem , Writing/English, Research Inforamtion and Technology,Pharmacy Orientation. I'm afraid that evryone will be alot smarter than me..MOst of you will hate me for the fact that I got into the pharmacy program with a 2.97 GPA and 1300 SATs. I can already smell the haters. If there any takers feel free to shoot a couple of posts.

P.S. If you dont have something nice to say don't say it all...Keep it clean!

be prepared to study your butt off. 6 year programs are accelerated some what. 17 credits are tough to take for a freshmen but it is doable. plus when you have to meet the minimum to go on to professional year, you probalby wont have too much time partying etc. two science classes are no joke. once you get behind it is over for. i dont care what everyone said unless you are human scanner of all the pages of your text CRAMMING do not work!. so dont get behind, work comes first before partying. there will be times you can have good time.

p.s. what is the miminum you have to meet? u need PCAT?

no pCAT required since were are selected out of high school and 2.5 GPA required thoruhgout up until professional yrs where I think they require 2.7 or 2.9. Its a pretty small pharmacy class but I chose this shcool over USP and I like Pittsburgh. Im not really afraid of the Calc or Writing courses but I hear college science courses are tough. Rumor has it that most peple who apply get into the program since it is a private school (that is high school students though)

if you thinking college course is just like high school science class you are mistaken. i am sure you have heard plenty of this. keeping 2.9 is not too bad of task. consider yourself extremely lucky. good luck.

The classes being considered "hard" for me during my pre-reqs would be O-Chem. The rest is not that bad. I had OChem with a hard professor who claimed to finish his dual Ph.D in Chemistry and Biochem at Stanford (and yeah...his class is a lot of work.); Your schedule is not that bad at all.
Highschool materials are a joke comparing to work-load at university. I mean it! Some people grad HS with honors 4.0, whatever, but still doing crappily in 4 yr college. Just be confident, man.
