Hey guys!! I applied to FIU back in December but have yet to hear anything really. From what I understand the last interview is March 7th. Here are my stats:

Undergrad: FSU Psych
Calculated GPA: 3.28
GRE Q: 155 V: 150
Hours: 163 total in outpatient facilities in 2 different settings
Recs: 2 PTs, 1 Physics Professor, 1 Coach that spoke on my character

I have an interview with St. Augustine Miami on 2/27 but I’m really hoping for FIU!! Let me know if you guys hear anything!

Sorry, should've been more clear-- I actually haven't gotten invited for an interview, and I'm kind of bummed about it. I sent a follow up letter of interest yesterday so lets see if that helps, but it's so nerve-wracking !! Congrats on the interview and your stats look pretty good in my opinion. Where else have you applied to?

I am sure you'll get an invite to an interview because our stats are pretty similar. I know how much anxiety the waiting game causes.

I applied to FGCU, UCF, FIU, Nova Tampa, FAMU, Campbell, and AdventHealth. I have been waitlisted at Nova Tampa and FGCU. I got a rejection letter from AdventHealth today after my interview last Friday which really bothered me.

Where else have you applied?

Okay so weirdly enough... I JUST got the email invitation from FIU for the interviews on March 7th !!

I applied to similar schools and got a lot of rejections lol

Applied: UF, UCF, FGCU, Nova ft Lauderdale, St. Augustine Miami, UM, and FIU

Rejected: UCF, FGCU, Nova

Interviews: St Augustine Miami (02/27), FIU (03/07)

Still waiting to hear from all the other schools but my top choices at this point are FIU and St Augustine!

Congratulations on your interview with FIU. I am sure that you will do great with the interview.

I am honestly surprised with the amount of rejections you have received. What is your prereq gpa like? I know that a lot of programs weigh that heavily.

Thank you! I'm not sure about my pre-req GPA.. I dont really know where to find it. But I think that's probably my weakest aspect of the application bc my freshman and sophomore year of college were not the best in regard to academics lol. If you have any notes or tips for the process of the FIU interview it would be so greatly appreciated. I had a friend interview at FIU who said it was pretty laid-back!

When I interviewed with FIU, it was for the early interview. It was two one-on-one interviews with faculty and a 30 minute tour. They asked me questions about how I handled stress and time management. I was also asked about my volunteer/shadowing experiences and what I learned from them. They seem to really care about the inpatient setting, so that might be something to reflect on. They also asked questions about my resume and why I went to my school for undergrad. Please take this all with a grain of salt as I believe you are going to their group interview.

Sounds good, thanks for your help! Definitely keep me updated, hopefully we’re classmates soon enough

Maybe my info can be helpful to someone:

cGPA: 3.6-3.7
prereq GPA: 3.81
GRE: 147V, 153Q, 4.0AWA

Applied: FGCU, FIU, UNF, U of Miami, UCF, Elon University, Midwestern University

Interview: FIU (2/8), UNF (2/22), U of Miami (2/7), Midwestern University- Glendale (1/17), Elon University (2/28 declined)

Waitlist: Midwestern, UCF

Acceptance: FIU (2/10)

Still have not heard anything from FGCU and waiting for U of Miami for their decision by March 1

There is hope for those with a low GRE! Also, FIU's interview was the most laid back... I asked most of the questions. & there was a facility tour after.

FIU asked:
Why PT?
Tell me about yourself?
Why FIU?

But, they give most of the floor to you! Bring lots of great questions. Everyone was SO nice!

Has anyone heard anything from FIU? I haven't seen anyone update with acceptances since November. I'm sure with all this craziness going on, decisions were delayed, but I'm getting a little nervous. I'm thinking of calling today to see if I can get through to anyone. Hope everyone is staying safe 🙂

I went to the February 8th interview and still have not heard back. I sent an email on March 26 to Mark Rossi (Chair and Assistant Professor) and wrote back that there are delays. After that email, I have not heard back. Hope that helps. Stay safe!

I interviewed on March 7th and found out this morning I was waitlisted. Dr. Rossi said all 63 spots of the 2020 class are now full, but they expect some accepted students will withdraw their application opening up a few spots.
