Does taking the test with a flatscreen monitor as opposed to a regular one make a big difference for the PAT section?

I'd like to know because there is a center that has them but it's further away from me than the center that does not have them.

Thanks for the input.

From what I've heard from friends and my Kaplan instructor...AVOID the old monitors and go for the flat-screen because it makes a big difference for the angle-ranking.

Thanks for the response. Cute doggie.

So, this is the situation...

I have the option of taking the test at a place with regular, but supposedly "not old" monitors, a day later and closer location-wise, or

a place with flatscreen a day earlier, that is 40 minutes further away.

I'd like to make a decision soon on what to do. The details are important, I think!

Thanks.

I would avoid the old monitors. Using them the angles become a crapshoot. They get skewered ad there is not possible way to tell the difference between angles that are 4 degrees apart say.

I tested in a center with the big old clunky monitors under fluorescent lights. Unfortunately, one of the bulbs chose my testing day to start to flicker. During the PAT sections, I found it extremely difficult to discern where the line really was. It looked like it was jumping up and down on the screen. If I'd have had the option of testing with a flat screen with better graphics, I'd drive to the next state! BTW, I took the DAT a second time without the light show and scored 4 points higher on the PAT so I know the equipment made a difference. Good luck on your decision.

lol light show. I like the way you said it.

if you get a chance and opportunity to get to the place with flat monitors, why not take it

Thanks guys for the responses.

Light show? Funny the way you put it, but you poor thing! 4 points higher! Wow, that's huge.

I just hesitated because it would make the test a day earlier, but I guess that won't matter so much, if I am prepared enough by then.

Thanks guys...

BTW, on a related note about the testing center conditions, I don't understand why they don't allow us to bring ear plugs into the center, especially since people are typing in the same room...

Hi, guys

I live in Canada and I'm planning to take my exam near Seattle.
So I cannot go there to check the computer screen.
