I had a question regarding the Florida Pharmacy Intern License. Once a pharmacy student attends Pharmacy School, they will receive an Intern License. I know that an Internship may be difficult to get, especially because the number of Pharmacy schools and the limited positions in hospital/retail chains here. Does anyone have any recommendations of the best places to apply for in Florida where internships are not extremely competitive? Also, can a pharmacy student that does no have a techinician license work in a pharmacy as a pharm tech- or is this just a waste because it is better for future career opportunites to strive for experience as a pharm intern..

Thanks for your help! I will be a P1 and I am new to the process, so I just wanted to know how to best begin the process of applying for internships.

Valid question. You can work as a tech, most pharmacists will act like you are an intern anyway, so I would say do not get hung up on titles. Any work in a pharmacy is going to be a plus. One of my jobs my title is per diem pharmacy technician (at a hospital), but I still do intern-y work. It is a good deal for them really, they get an intern at tech pay.

Realistically you are going to want to find a job close to home, so I do not know that there is a point to knowing where internships are less competitive. It helps to know upperclassman who might have leads and if your school has a job fair, go to that for sure (that was how I got on at CVS).

Good Luck :luck:
