Hi everyone,
I am an IMG from Canada. I am writing my PS for family medicine but have a big problem. At the start of 4th year, I wanted to do surgery and did most of my electives in surgery. But I have had a change of heart and want to do FM back in Canada. I have 1 elective schedule right before interviews but after the deadline for submitting applications.

I imagine that most FM programs will notice this and look negatively upon it. I was hoping to use my FM PS to somehow justify receiving an interview despite this. I will be honest, I dont have a real good reason other than I dont see myself matching in to surgery in Canada and am willing to do FM just to be able to practice in Canada so that I can be close to my wife and child.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to put a good spin on the change from surgery to FM that does not include that fact that I just want to practice in Canada. Any help will be appreciated.
