Hi, I'm a brazilian student considering radiology and neurology in US residency, also my girlfriend would like to try for pediatrics or oncology. How strong should be my application on 1) Basic science grades during M-school, 2) Clinical science grades, 3) Internship grades in M-school, 4) USMLE step 1, 5) USMLE Step 2 and 3, 6) Publications and 7) LOR's.
IMO 1,2 and 3 aren't of much relevance since its really hard to compare it to other candidates since are different countries , on the other hand 4 and 5 are crucial since its the only way to actually compare my knowledge in US standards. I guess 7 would be the single most important factor in a FMG application since its the only US real experience background I'll have and taking someone who passed the steps with flying colors but no relevant US experience would still feel really risky for a program. I can't really understand if 6 it's relevant or not.
Any tips or thoughts in aspects that are essential or differentials in a FMG application would be highly appreciated. Be welcome to post what you think a strong application for each of those specialties is. Another thing, how much better than AMG will i have to do in the standardized tests ?
Thank you all for the trouble.
