I really enjoy teaching and I do not enjoy research, so I am thinking about focusing a portion of my personal statement / application on why I enjoy teaching and how it will contribute to my medical career. I would think that my interest could counterbalance my lack of interest in research for two reasons:
  1. a good doctor must be able to teach patients about healthy behaviors, habits, etc.
  2. the medical field, naturally, needs good teachers to train new doctors.
Am I right in believing that it would be appropriate to make my interest in teaching the second largest focus of my application? (my main focus would be my interest in the human side of medicine)

NOTE: I do have 3 quarters of research experience, I just am not interested in being involved in research any more or in the future.

Thanks!

I think you have a nice approach to it, just be sure to state examples (e.g., show, don't tell). You should make one theme and write about how your experiences contribute to that theme. Just be sure you repeat minimal information in your experiences section!
