Following up after CCM interview?

Hey Guys-

Need a little help. Getting some offers from some CCM programs with the first deadline for reply for one of them being Jan 10. Is it kosher to email other programs I have interviewed at to let them know I am up against some pressure to accept a slot and to inquire about my status? My honest opinion is that CCM should eventually go through a match system due to these issues. I mean, Jan 10 deadline for a 8/1/13 start? Its a solid program, though.

Some program directors have asked whether I was pressured by other deadlines. They must know that given the "rolling" nature of the application process that some applicants are taken quickly and early.

I am only a CA-1 but I would imagine it's ok to do that and I am sure it has been done before. I did something similar when applying to anesthesia I would call up a place and tell them I would be in town interviewing with a program that's close by and since I haven't heard from them, is it possible to find out if they would want to interview me that week that I would be in town.


I am also interested in doing a critical care fellowship, do you mind sharing how the interview cycle is going and how competitive it is this year.

had similar experience last year with ccm fellowship. i took the offer bc the other sites told me they were still interviewing and wouldnt make a decision for awhile. i didnt ask for an extension from the original program bc i knew i would be happy there. a match would be nice!
