I'm currently experiencing pregnancy induced vegetarianism. What is lunch like at the CS? Can we bring food in? I'm going to have to keep snacks in my pockets. I'm just wondering if they offer a veggie choice and if lunch is filling. I have heard stories of plain bologna sandwiches and 5 potato chips. Yuck!😕

Yeah...you should probably bring food. Many people in my group were vegetarian and were from parts of the world where that's common, but the meal provided was meat-heavy and the "veggie casserole" didn't look very good.

You won't have to keep the food in your pocket-- you'll be given space for all your belongings and there's plenty of room for all the veggies you want to bring 🙂

I took it in Philly, and they had a good variety of food. Deli meat sandwiches, veggie sandwiches, fruit platter, bread, cookies. I was surprised, no complaints here.

well they better.

we're paying big bucks and getting ripped off for this. that's the least they can do

They had hamburgers and deli sandwiches in Houston. You don't want to eat too much, seeing as by the time they feed you you're not even half-way done with the test.

Be careful about what you have in your pockets. Ask them if it's okay first. You don't want to get in trouble for suspicious behavior or suspected cheating. When I did the DO version of hte exam they were strict about not wanting you to have anything but your stethoscope with you during the patient encounters.

You can bring food in, but it has to stay in the "test-takers" room. You have a desk where you can leave stuff, like your cell phone, a few snack bars, etc.

I'm going to have to keep snacks in my pockets.

Don't even think about keeping snacks in your pocket.

That is an extremely effective way of getting your test nullified.

The only things that you can have in your pocket are your stethoscope, your ID, and some cash/credit card. That is IT. You're not even allowed your own pen, so definitely do NOT carry anything else in your pockets!

I have heard stories of people being investigated by the NBME because they were diabetic and brought a blood sugar meter into the exam with them. (CLEARLY they were trying to cheat. 🙄) Yes, the NBME is that strict, and yes, they will get you for it.
