For a Day 1 AMCAS application, should we submit on June 3 or by June 27?

June 3 is the first day you can submit, but the med schools don't actually get anything until June 27. Should neurotic overachiever pre-meds like myself aim to have it fully submitted by 12:01 AM on June 3, or is there no advantage to submitting it any day from June 3 to June 27?

Thanks

Submit as early as you can (sometime in the first week is ideal) but make sure your application is as polished as you would like. June 27 is when schools get it, but if you submit it on the 27th, it won't be verified the same day (often by the end of June is when you see a lot of submissions piling up so verification can take a long time). I ended up waiting till June 10th because I was still making final edits on my personal statement, but I was verified by June 21st so I was more than fine.

That being said, it's always a crapshoot because it depends on how many people submit before you as applications are reviewed in order of submission. With the new MCAT this year and a lot of people taking May/June dates, I would think applying after June 3 might be safer this year since more people will be waiting for scores, but that's pure speculation.

I'm mostly echoing what @quietninja72 said above, but there is a difference between June 3rd and June 27th, and that difference is verification time. If you submit on June 3rd, you will be verified by the 27th and your app will go out to schools on that date (assuming you have an MCAT score and your LORs). If you submit on the 27th, you will certainly not be verified that day, and your app will go out to schools a few weeks later. Whether those few weeks are crucial is a judgement call that you have to make, but you should know that you are making it.

Now, the difference between submitting June 3rd and say, June 12th is probably negligible, if it exists at all.

This.

I was planning on submitting my primary on the first day last summer, but I didn't feel that my personal statement was as polished as I wanted it to be. I ended up waiting until June 12th and I was still verified before primaries were sent to schools. Get it in within a week of AMCAS opening and you'll definitely be fine.
