For all Canadian applicants
Would you please write down if you have gotten any interview offers?
Application Date/ DAT score/ GPA/ Interview offers
There are rumors suggesting it might be harder for Canadians this year
I just want to see the stat, so people won't start freaking out

Thanks!!

Well I'm bored of studying, so might as well do this.

Interview offers: Interviewed at Case (Sept. 9th), Wait-listed for interview at Buffalo
-I asked Buffalo about the waitlist thing and they said Canadian's are not their top priority at this moment, but they still accept quite a few Canadians each year...guess time will tell with them.
-Only waiting to hear from Detroit still

App Date: Everything except fourth ref letter mailed by July 2nd...4th letter mailed by July 31st

DAT: 19TS / 19AA / 20 PAT / 21 RC / 25 Carving

GPA (inc+/-): science = 3.95, cumulative = 3.93

Degree (this might make a difference): None, only in 3rd year atm.

I wouldn't say it's 'harder', just gotta pick and choose where you're applying

O. o. can you elaborate more on this rumor??

well, recently, there are quite a few posts from Canadians complaining about they are not getting interview offers
For example, someone with 19 DAT got 2 interview last year; however, the person has not gotten any this year with 21 DAT
I am not quite sure what is going on
Maybe the private schools are favoring US citizens as well because of the economy

With stats like that, don't you have a pretty good chance for Canadian schools?

Shouldn't they favour Canadians since we have to pay more?

Haha. I don't think that's the thought process. Every dental institution in America, whether private or public, is supported by American tax dollars. State schools are supported by state tax dollars, and private schools work off of tuition, but also government funded grants, which are accumulated through U.S. tax dollars and other means. It would be unethical and ridiculous to not prioritize American applicants first. This is the same reason state dental schools (public schools) take priority in in-state students. It also has to do with the likelyhood you will remain in the U.S. I don't mean to arrouse any animosity and I think its great Canadians have the opportunity to be trained by American Dental schools. This was merely a response to the quote above. Best of luck to you all. Don't hate me 🙁

Yeah, that is what I suspect too
Especially when the economy is bad and unemployment rate is high
Well, I don't want to freak people out before the stats come out
But, please post your stat

I wish there was certainty in everything, but I'm only an average applicant in Canadian standards.
Since Canadian schools calculate GPA differently, my GPA drops to around 3.81. Then considering most of the schools do not look at carving, that section doesn't really help my other scores.

Oh right, because of the pre-req and cumulative gpa. Are you applying to UBC and U of A?

Can't apply to UBC (didn't take a second math), but I did apply to U of A. Not really making to many bets on anything happening there since I'm from Ontario, but never know I guess.

What does that work out to percentage wise Colos? If it is over 89 you should apply to Saskatchewan as well. It's ridiculous that people with awesome averages like you have to go to U.S and pay ridiculous amounts for tuition.

I wish it was over 89, but it's only at 86.3 percentage wise.
Oh, and yeah I applied to UoS considering they like carving and I had all the reference letters done anyways. So cold over there though lol =P.
I try not to think about the tuition amount to much lol, as long as I get in somewhere 👍

I've never been to sask, but I'm pretty sure you'll be suffering from the cold if you go to U of A too lol
