i just got the book & it seems pretty solid with just questions & answers. now, how did u guys go about using the book? did you try to do all of the questions in a section & then go through the answers? or did you guys do a single problem & check the answer? i have the DAT in a little over a month & just wondering if i should save the book for a few weeks before? or should i just master it right now in numerous parts? thanks for all your input & good luck studying! 🙂

i just got the book too, and from what i picked up from others' posts.... use the destroyer as a tool after you've studied the sciences thoroughly i.e. kaplan, textbooks, ap guides, etc.

someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I got mine last week and it seems to be really helping me after I studied all of my basics down. So I would suggest studying for all the basics first and then doing the Destroyer. So far, it's helped me out like crazy because the questions really narrows everything down and tests you on the all detail, specific stuff. And take advantage of calling Dr. Romano and Dr. Steen. They've helped me so much already!

When doing the questions (G Chem, O Chem, and OR), the questions that I got wrong, I would look at the answers and then I would do it over and over and over again until it's stuck in my head. For Biology, I would type all of the wrong questions I got wrong, and re-read them as notes. Hope that helps.

I suggest to do question by question so you can really absorb the info for each subject that the specific question covers. When using the destroyer its very important to understand how each question is answered and to remember all the extra stuff that Dr. Romano puts in the explanation paragraph. Got me a 25 in the BIO section... That was the EXACT method I used.. I made flash cards for all the bio and memorized them... Everyone is different, no one can guarantee any scores for you, they can just tell you what worked for them... If your not the sharpest knife in the draw or missing a few cards from the deck, I dont know whats gonna help you.. But I have used most of the study materials out there and destroyer was by FAR the best help I had... without question

Do what works best for you man... Like I said in my previous post, making flash cards for the bio worked best for me, it helped me memorize them.. For orgo, I knew my basics already, I just practiced, practiced, practiced with the destroyer.. the roadmaps were cool to rewrite also.. test yourself and see if you can guess the next product or cover up the reagent and see if you can figure it out... For Gchem I needed a lot of brushup so I busted out my old text, went through it then hit up the destroyer.. Basically don't just go into the destroyer cold turkey (Mmm turkey) brush up on your subjects, once you feel comfortable in them, then test yourself... like, if you havent taken orgo or dont remember it, how do you expect to do well on hard test questions?? Even when you brush up on it, your still gonna make a zillion mistakes, I did, the destroyer is loaded with traps, but your supposed to fall into them, cause Dr. Romano shows you why you got snagged... and thats whats important.. If your DAT is coming up, DONT wait, start crackin on those problems now... Get in as much time with that stuff as you can.... It's not like a topscore where you only have 3 tests and you burn one by using it.. I went through each question, if I got it wrong, I marked it, read why I got it wrong and came back to it a few days later and see how I did on it.. but I did every question in the book quite a few times.. on indies advice i went over the organic chemistry section again...only i did the roadmaps (writing them out and predicting the next step) before hand and the ochem section went so smoothly. it reallly helps thanks

Just make sure you understand all the problems in Destroyer thoroughly. If you can do the problems in the destroyer, the real test will be a cake walk.
