There are lots of questions thrown around in separate threads and I feel like it can be condensed so if you have any questions at all regarding anything about the process or DAT studying or how the interview stuff works, feel free to PM me. PM works better so that you don't get bashed by other members lol. I am a CA resident and had 9 interviews and haven't decided between Maryland and UCSF so I have a notion of it all.

Edit: I also went to a CC

If I submit all part of application except for DAT, and take the dat in middle of june, does it take another2~3 weeks to get to schools or the schools can get it an unofficial score directly via internet so there won't be much of delay?

...or they can just start a new thread and ask there to get more than one opinion.

I figured i'd try to be helpful. People always get bashed on here for starting new threads when they "coulda used the search function" so i figured they could just post in here instead of starting a million new ones. What do you have against them posting here?

I just did a little reseach on you.

in one post you said
UCSF TODAY!!!!! OOS!

Mail out date : 7-4

Supp confirmation : 9-21

GPA : Sci - 3.8 Cum - 3.8

DAT : 20-20-20

and in another you said
Went to CC. Did good at the 4year. Lower GPA (but still above average) and 19's/20's all around. 9 interviews. 7 acceptances (Penn, USC, UCSF, UCLA, Oklahoma, Mich, Nebraska) All OOS.. NY resident. Will be attending UCLA in the fall

contradictions. Are you NY or CA resident? Are you going to UCLA or UCSF/Maryland?

Do you know how often AADSAS updates the school decision portion? I'm beginning to drive myself crazy checking email and that website. I tried to search for it, but couldn't find an answer.

Live in NY but went to HS in CA so had CA "residency" but lived as a RESIDENT in NY.. make sense? I got UCLA earlier and Maryland and UCSF recently so still deciding. Excuse me for trying to help pre dents.

I am very thankful that you are trying to help, but I just want to make sure that my source of information is valid. That's why I want to make sure that the person giving out the information is who he/she claims to be.

I am still a little confused, can you be a resident of two states at the same time?

You were a resident of California, and gave up that residency to be a resident of NY?

or you currently live in NY, but not really a NY state resident and still obtaining your residency in CA?

Second one. I'm a CA resident by government definition (in state residency) or whatever you wanna call it lol. But I only live in NY thus a NY "resident"

Same deal here. I have official state residency at one state, so if I apply to dental schools in that state, I get in state tuition. However, I actually live in another state. If I apply to dental schools in the state I currently live in, I would be counted as OOS. So I'm guessing jhanago could go to UCLA and pay in state tuition but cannot go to Stony Brook and do the same.
It happens.

Jhanago... not sure why everyone is hating on you man. Thanks for trying to be helpful and putting your long time SDN experience to good use.

"Wait, are you trying to tell me that someone started a thread trying to be helpful and answer questions about a long, potentially confusing application process? WHAT AN ASS HOLE! I'd better look through all his old posts to find something to call him out on."

I swear, everyone is getting so confrontational these last couple weeks. The cycle is essentially over, you'd think people would be in better moods.

I know, how dare he?! He actually wants to help....seems fishy. But we all know all the other posters on this forum are legit, amirite?

People are united and supportive pre Dec 1st but divided and bitchy after Dec 1st. Maybe people will be nicer around May/June?

Lol seriously...

OP: Its ok man, thanks for the helpful thread! I'm not too sure how much it will be used, but its a good idea, so lets see where it goes 👍

Thanks for the support everybody! I know I had a really tough time doing all this alone so I just figured it would be nice to have someone who's done it to assist the new applicants. And there might not be alot of posts here but I have gotten a TON of PM's lol. Seems like more people were scared to ask questions on the broad forum than I originally thought. Perhaps because the bashing that has even taken place in this thread lol

Very helpful and good advice, thanks.
I suggest anyone that needs help or ask questions to ask jhanago.

Thanks.
