Who is the most famous person you have met/encountered? All I have is that I saw a bunch of Packer players at a hibachi/sushi restaurant about a year ago (I live about an hour away from Green Bay). I only remember recognizing Mark Tauscher and Aaron Kampman. They were huge!!

I took driving lessons (the parentals made me do it for insurance) from the same guy who gave Viggo Mortenson's mom lessons. I got to see the check he signed. lol I didn't actually meet him, but I guess he owned a house not far from where I lived.

NFL players must love Japanese food, because I met some Steelers players at a Japanese steakhouse in Pittsburgh as well! I live for the Steelers so it was amazing.

I've also met a number of Penguins players (due to having played hockey in Pittsburgh and at intermission of one of their games as a kid, and at our playoffs in their arena), and a couple of Pirates players. I had such a crush on Tim Wakefield when I was in like sixth grade and I got to have my picture taken with him. 😍

I know a lot of people who were on those Discovery/Travel channel rollercoaster shows (and was on one of them myself!), but that's very niche.

Hung out with Tony Hawk(very sweet) and Sergie Ventura (total ego-maniac) as a slobbering, post-teen, skateboard groupie. Met Pantera and Fugazi backstage 😱 (my face the entire time.) Im a huge fan!

My dad went to high school with richard gere. We have the yearbook and there's a photo of gere on the gymnastics team wearing a leotard (or whatever they call the outfit worn by male gymnasts) He looks like a chipmunk.

I didn't actually meet this celebrity, but I saw Selma Blair at a bar in LA called Jimmy's Lounge last Saturday. I think the crew had just finished shooting a set and came in for some drinks. =)

I also saw Britney Murphy in front of a restaurant in LA several years ago. She is TINY!!

Scott Baio (and his mom...at my grandmas dr. appt) --my mom was like "oh my gosh...i know you!! chi-chi, cha-cha...what was it?"

Sean Astin and Carrie Strug (my sis went to UCLA and they were students also)

Cesar Milan (after his first season of dog whisperer....he said my dogs were good...and they are good i guess compared to dog fighters)

Arnold Schwarzeneger (cant spell....he came to our local Jr. College when i was in elementary and exercised with everyone!)

Judge Whopner (my mom was on peoples court...and she won!)

I saw Shaq at the Belmont Stakes he was like 15 feet from me and he had his like 12 person group around him....

David Hasselhoff  at the Belmont

Mankind (the wrestler) in New Hampshire at Clarks Trading Post

Ty Law from the Patriots at his house

oh yeah and Linda Blair (the girl from the exorcist)

thats about it for now

Wynton and Branford Marsalis lived in a house next to my grandmother. Wynton drops a line to my sister in France when he's in the area.

I was held as a baby by Pop Staples.

Michael J Fox would visit relatives next door to my friends house.

Politicians
Jesse Jackson wanted to take a picture with us (dh, daughter #1 and I) while we were outside of the Champaign County Courthouse (apparently we were a good looking family or something.🙄)

I had conversations with Alan Keyes, before he ran for senate out of Illinois (that was when he went a bit insane or whatever).

Big Jim Thompson (state governor at the time) mistook me for a lawyer while we were doing mock trials at the Dirksen Federal Building. Got my picture in the paper talking to him, too.

If you count college sports figures, I graduated from ACES with Brian Randle, would pass Dee Brown ( and the crowd of gigling girls around him) on the quad at least twice a day, I fitted Jerry Hester for shoes. I helped countless football and basketball players, including J Leman, Richard Semrau, Brian Carlwell, and Juice Wiliams, get their books together for the start of classes every semester.

Brian Austin Green at a car auto show when I was a teenage. I thought he was such a cutie back in my 90210 days 😳

Kobe Bryant way before he was famous. Well, I didn't actually meet him but I saw him play basketball when he was in high school. His team was playing against my high school and everybody went to watch cause there was so much talk about him being awesome.

Meryl Streep- she attended my graduation...

Well, I am sure I will be showing my age here, because you are unlikely to even know some of these people:

My 3rd cousin was Natalie Wood.

I stepped on Fred McMurray's foot (the dad in My Three Sons) when I was 3.

I shook Will Rogers hand in his museum in Apple Valley, Ca.

I've met Jonathan Caine (keyboardist for Journey) and Tipper Gore.

I never met him, but my Aunt was Frank Sinatra's piano teacher. He fired her for telling anyone, because he always claimed to be self-taught (he wasn't.) He was apparently not a very nice man.

For hockey fans, I lived across the street from Joe Sakic for a time when I was in Denver. I'll always love that man, what a great guy. 😍

We got into the same honky tonk that Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and his entourage was in after a show of his in Nashville a couple years ago. Got within a few feet of him, but no introductions, bummer.

Chris Klein went to my high school and his little brother was in my class. So in a weird way, I guess I'm 6 degrees from just about everyone in Hollywood. 😎

I saw Jack Nicholson filming a movie in NYC. I also saw Heidi Klum and Seal at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. My husband spotted Steve, the bodyguard from The Jerry Springer Show and we had our picture taken with him in the Chicago airport. Finally, I saw Jared Leto shopping in the Mall of America. What a hottie (shorter than I thought he would be though), I had a huge crush on him from "My So Called Life". Oh, and I saw Rudy Giuliani speak once. Hmm...I think that's it.

i was in the elevator with joey lawrences brother, Matthew, and i'm 5'6"....he was shorter than me and lanky! it was weird! cuz then i saw him on TV and he looked all buff and tall.

Yeah, why does everyone seem so tall on TV and in movies? I've always found that to be weird. I lived a good part of my childhood thinking everyone in Hollywood was well over 6 feet tall!

Vern Troyer at the Mandalay Bay with a bunch of people around him.
Magic Johnson at a restaurant in The Hard Rock.
Usher at a mall! (He is a little guy!)
Ted Nugent when I worked at Starbucks. (Hello Ego!)
Liza Gibbons... very nice lady.
Ben Stiller and his wife (totally forgot her name!) They used to live next door to my aunt in California. Very nice people.

Like a few above, though, it is easy to meet celebrities when you live in a town that attracts them!

Nyanko, who did you meet on the Penguins team?! Love them!

Markus Naslund (Vancouver Canucks)'s dog

My 3rd cousin was Natalie Wood.

That's who my mom named me after. 😛

rexo:

I met Ulf Samuelsson, Kjell Samuelsson, Kevin Stevens, Rick Tocchet, Mario Lemieux...really, most of the team from the late 80's/early 90's, because of getting to play at the CIVIC ARENA (I refuse to call it Mellon Arena still).

Oh and I played for one year in high school against Ryan Malone but then he went to play junior hockey I think.

scarcelyheard:

jealous.

Oh, and speaking of hockey players I've also known a good # of the womens' ice hockey Olympic and national team players over the years.

scarcelyheard and nyanko: very jealous 🙂

electrophile: I'd be jealous if I wasn't a die-hard Red Wings fan... 😀

I met Ted Lindsay at a hockey tournament... my husband swears he saw Brendan Shanahan (when he was with the Red Wings) at a local pub.... way back in the early '90s, we saw some of the Pistons at a brewery after one of their games - I think it was Rick Mahorn and Bill Laimbeer

Oh yeah, my mom got told by Walter Gretzky (Wayne Gretzky's dad) that she needed to take it easy because she looked stressed (she was hung over from a night out with the other hockey moms I think), and I met him too, because he was at some tournament in Canada that I went to. My coach fell on his butt in front of him when he was accepting his medal.

Speaking of hockey players... never met the guy, but Glen Murray is from my own town. Before we moved, his parents lived two houses up from us.

Also got my picture taken with James Sheppard and Jean Claude Sawyer, if anybody knows them from the NHL 😛

I never knew there were so many hockey fans here!! Wow. 🙂

Finally, I saw Jared Leto shopping in the Mall of America. What a hottie (shorter than I thought he would be though), I had a huge crush on him from "My So Called Life".

(Slobbering) Soooooooo, jealous of you Rebeki. I love 30 seconds to Mars. That would be so awesome. Did you just see him or did you actually get to meet him? Question #1: Why do you keep dating those wacked out actress/singer wanna-be's. Seriously. How can someone so conscious about our planet issues date people with air for brains. 😕

Haha...I just saw him/stalked him while he was shopping...I was much too starstruck to actually speak to him😱 Although, the clerks at the Hot Topic didn't have that problem - they took pictures with him and everything.

Nyanko and Scarcelyheard: SO JEALOUS!😱
I would give all my celebrity run-ins to meet Fleury!

Oh, and who said they were a Red-Wings fan? Seriously?!?! 😛

guilty as charged!

not just a bandwagon fan - I am old enough to remember the "dead wings" of the late 70's/early 80's before they drafted Steve Yzerman (yes, I've just SERIOUSLY dated myself 😛) and I was a fan way back then... grew up just north of Detroit and my dad was/is a huge sports fan - I got the hockey bug from him...

I would love to meet Fleury but I'm reserving my judgment on Sid for a few years... 🙂

I never knew there were so many hockey fans here!! Wow. 🙂

Since the strike a couple years ago, I got out of the habit of watching, plus they don't have the Avs games on much where I'm at, whereas in high school, they had Fox Sports Rocky Mountain, so I could watch just about every game. I still will always love the Avs and especially my man Joe. 😍

Also guilty, although I didn't start following them until just after they got Stevie Y - guess that still dates me too 🙂

Oh, and wrt meeting Fleury - HELLO! VERY jealous.

So, I didn't actually get to meet him or anything, but when I was living in Paris, I saw Johnny Depp walking down the street one day. I didn't know what to do, I kind of just stood there. He was pretty incognito, but still very sexy. 😉

James Gandolfini. A couple of months before Katrina my husband and I saw him at the mall in New Orleans. I wanted to scream: "OMG, I LOVE YOU!" and maybe have him sign something because I was very into Sopranos at that time, but my husband was like: "don't do it, he's with a kid and a woman and obviously doesn't want bothered". So I just stood their with my jaw dropped 😀. It was like a movie though: we were waiting for the elevator, the doors opened and he walked out😱.

The only person I have ever met that might be considered famous is Bret "The Hitman" Hart!! Any old school WWF fans out there in SDN land? *sigh*...I had the glasses, the t-shirt, and still have the autographed glossy picture. It holds a place of honor in my apartment. And I have the 3 disc DVD set with a huge interview with him...I was so in love with him...still kinda am 😍

"The Hitman" Really? I saw Owen Hart talking to the refs outside the Assembly hall one time. He was shorter than me. 😕

I was more into the Undertaker, myself. Saw him live. It doesn't count, cause I didn't see him backstage or anything. I still have my undertaker bear from 1980something 😀

I liked Shaun Michaels when he had his baby fat, still. Ahhh. The eighties.

I LOVED WWF!! 😀 Every Saturday morning I used to watch it. I liked the Undertaker, too, but he kind of scared the crap out of me. My dad took me to see WWF in person twice and I ran to the bathroom when Papa Shango came out. Does anyone remember him? He was really scary to me for some reason! I really loved Mr. Perfect, but I believe he passed away.

I just watched the story about Andre the Giant on the Biography channel the other night. Very fascinating (to me, anyway!).

I'm waiting for the Andre biographic movie that will be coming out next year. The guy they have playing him is pretty cool.

I was a Mark Calaway (Undertaker) fan when he was one of the skyscrapers in the wcw, so I didn't really think of him as scary. *Warning*Really old reference, here. */Warning* Remember Suburban Commando? He and Tony Longo were pretty funny in that movie. The toilet around his neck... priceless.

electrophile: I'd be jealous if I wasn't a die-hard Red Wings fan... 😀

you might appreciate this more then...i met Gordy Howe when i was rather little up in a breakfast place in Traverse City. he had a whole conversation with me and like patted me on the head. when he left, both my mom and my sister were like "you have no idea who that was do you?". kinda didn't appreciate it at the time (obviously), but pretty cool nonetheless 😀

um...saw xzibit at a restaurant in hawaii, which was funny cause these two kids actually went up to him to get a CD signed.

i think that's all the excitement for me

I met Sonny Bono before he passed away. It was while he was in Congress.

Love the red wings!

I went to a party that ended up being a Red Wings party; a lot of the players showed up, and I got to drink champagne from the stanley cup. No joke!

Oh, I have another one! Not quite world famous, but I thought it was pretty neat. Anyone like to watch Emergency Vets and/or E-Vet Interns on Animal Planet? I love it, but I'm a huge dork like that. 😀 Anyway, when I was in high school I was working at the zoo and they had a special event hosted by animal planet and Dr. Holly Knorr from the show was there. I always watched that show religiously, so I was a bit star-struck, but I managed to get her autograph and yes, I still have it! I told you I'm a big dork. 😀🙄

I saw Cybill Shepherd at Disneyland like 10 years ago, Danielle Fishel (the girl who played Topanga on Boy Meets World) in LA last year and I was in an elevator with Ted Kennedy (and his dog) in the Capitol building a few years ago but I was too much of a sissy to say anything.

Also, Steffan Lessard (bassist for Dave Matthews Band) takes his dogs to my vet clinic in Charlottesville, VA and I met him after his house burned down and he came to our fire department to thank us. Boyd Tinsley (violonist for DMB) spoke at my UVA graduation in '07 (along with John Grisham) but I didn't meet him personally.

I have waited on Howie Long and his wife and 3 sons at the country club where I used to work (they live in Charlottesville and were all very polite but I went to college with Chris Long and he is a big jerk) and they had racked up a bill of almost $100 before they even ordered entrees because they all ordered dinner-sized salads with extra meat on them for the salad course along with 1 or 2 apps per person. He was gracious and tipped well...around 25%.

I also saw Sissy Spacek at a fundraising event for the local rescue squad and I saw Katie Couric while we were both shopping at J. Crew in Charlottesville.

Don't know why I didn't see this hilarious and awesome thread earlier...

My only real celebrity highlight is that I met Kevin Spacey!!! The grandmother of one of my high school classmates was in a Broadway production of Death Of A Salesman, and we went to NYC to see her in it, stuck around for Q&A afterward, and GUESS WHO strolled onstage!!!!!! I was dying. I 😍 Kevin Spacey. He was very friendly and stuck around for quite a while allowing us to be starstruck teenagers.

I guess I have met a few politicians/talking heads, as I grew up in DC and my dad has some gov't connections-- Bill Richardson for example. I also used to babysit Paige Johnson (horse girl/daughter of Bob Johnson of BET) as she rode at the same barn as I did. If you're a crazy horse person I know a few Olympic riders (McLain Ward, Damian Gardiner (IRE), Lou Thomas (NZ), Michael Page, Gina Miles (go Gina!!!!))

For a few years I went to school with Chelsea Clinton but can't honestly say I "knew" her as she was 2 years older than me.

My mom met Pink Floyd in an airport when she was younger, and apparently was "not impressed" and didn't even get an autographed napkin or anything!!! I still tease her about that. The only rock stars I've met are from a few obscure indie bands and a few late-90's East Bay punk bands from when I interned in the PR department of Lookout! Records.

nyanko, i'm gonna drop some names for you!! enjoy!!

I made photocopies w/Jesse from the Criminals (and discussed the dangers of the Jersey Turnpike), I got a song dedicated to me by Mick from the LES Stitches & hung out w/Total Chaos when they missed a gig due to supposed "hair issues" of the lead singer (not Lookout! bands but it was the same era). Hm, I got to pick the photo for Ann Beretta's 1st Lookout! poster b/c I knew them from the East Coast before they got signed...I also ate burritos w/the Mr T Exp. My husband has been shark fishing with Mike Dirnt and we've got a few free Green Day tix for whatever that's worth. Oh, haha, we can't forget the Donnas, can we? (or their 40 year old man groupies heheh). My Lookout! job was pretty hilarious, all and all. It was even better when my dad came to visit at the office... My dad the Washington DC lawyer! At Lookout! Great stuff.

...I also have met Black Heart Procession and a couple people from RFTC (ex boyfriend = best friends of band member's brother?!?!)... Oh and I've met the singer from Pinback a couple times, he was actually very cool. Ahh the San Diego scenesters, can't beat 'em, might as well join 'em.

😍 that's so awesome! I loved the Criminals and the Donnas, and I saw Ann Beretta on tour with the Bouncing Souls and such. It would be totally awesome to work for a label like Lookout! I am totally jealous. 😛

(of course it goes without saying that Green Day is pretty rad - I've been a fan since 39/smooth!)

I saw Rudy Giuliani (sp?), Joe Montana and Zig Zigler speak at a motivational seminar once.

When I was a cashier for Wal-Mart I had a former MN Viking come through my line. I didn't have the foggiest idea who he was until the customer behind him told me. I'm a college football fan anyway.

Both of my parents went to school with Tom Arnold. Not something they brag about at parties.

Oh one more! My husband met Josh Hartnett when he was working at a running store. Naturally, he didn't recognize him, but all of his female coworkers did.
