I think that its good for motivation, and Kaplan books present essentially whats going to be on the examination, and the lectures explain how to apply it.. makes the exam day go by much smoother in my opinion. Just my thoughts.

While we are at it, has anybody used video lectures for step 2, are they helpful?

i am retaker and i definitely have found kaplan worth it. i tried to do it on my own, but it just didn't work.

think of it this way. 8 hours of passive learning (sitting in lectures and note-taking) is better than 4 hours of snoozing and scanning stuff alone in the library. i feel that kaplan has motivated me to keep going for it all. it is definitely pricey but worth it.
