For your primary app. personal statement, do you have to write about why you want to go into medicine/become a doctor?
I want to write about issues that is not medicine related/why I want to go to medical school. Or do I save this for the secondary application essays?

So what other issues could you possibly want to write about? Maybe you can weave that into the main point (motivations) if that works out.

Speaking of weaving things, how difficult would it be to weave in multiple stories to create an over all theme?

These different stories should be saying something about YOU and reinforcing the points/objectives that you're trying to make in your personal statement. Make no mistake about it, the personal statement is the forum for you to make some kind of point to the readers. In this case, it would be your fitness/motivation for going into medicine if you do choose to write about that. That in turn will speak to your characteristics that support these ideas.

So I suppose that if you keep it within the umbrella of an underlying theme or two, it will be that much more effective. If you're throwing out 3-4 somewhat unrelated stories together and hoping that the reader comes to the same conclusion as you are, then that's where things get to be really subjective... and you don't want a PS reader who's read 15-20 essays before yours that same day to be making subjective judgments on your motivation/fitness for medicine. Spell it out, and most importantly, support these points.

This could have changed, but I believe when I applied the personal statement prompt said something about discussing your motivation to pursue a career as a physician.

Diosa is right...this is what the application says:

"Use the space provided to explain why you want to go to medical school."

Okay never mind then. Thanks for the replies.
