A DO EM program I interviewed at includes one month of IM, gen surg and OB in the PGY-2 year. I was told by the PD that this was an AOA requirement. It seems strange that residents would have to do more rotations in these areas seeing as all these rotations are covered in the traditional rotating internship. How is it in other programs? (I should mention that this is a brand new program that is not directly linked to an internship). I liked this program alot, but I'd hate to spend more time rounding and delivering babies than I have to 🙂 Thanks.
