Parents have bad credit, don't qualify for grants, no scholarships, not nearly enough awarded in federal loans, can't pay out of pocket..What to do???..

I'd talk to the financial aid office of whatever school you're planning on attending.

Private loans using your own credit? 🙁
I haven't applied for anything just yet, but I have less-than-perfect credit myself and I'm almost 100% positive that I wont qualify for a private loan.

I'm really sorry. This situation must be stressful for you.

If I may ask, how did you pay for your undergrad tuition?

Double check on the private loans. Many banks are willing to loan you the money if you prove enrollment in medical school to them - after all, even if your credit history isn't perfect (well I'm assuming it's not AWFUL), someone in a reputable medical school is a pretty safe bet in terms of your ability to pay it back down the road.

I have spoken to the financial aid office at the institution and they MAY be able to offer me a bit more in aid, but not enough to cover even half of the cost. Room and board are what's killing me, but I have no other choice as the school is about two and a half hours away from my hometown. I am a community college transfer and I have put off taking my pre-reqs at the CC (with the exception of BIO I). I havent a clue where to go from here or what, if anything, I can do to pay the rest of my tuition.

Wait, is this for undergrad or for medical school?

Since one can get federal loans up to cost of attendance in medical school up to the cost of attendance regardless of parental income, I'd assume undergrad.

OP, one of the hardest things I had to come to realize is that I wasn't going to be able to afford to go to my dream school after high school. I went to a much cheaper regional state school instead, but I was angry about it at first. It worked out in the end, and now I'm glad I went where I did. Have you considered going to a cheaper public state school instead? (I don't know where you're transfering to.)

I apologize for the confusion. This is for undergrad, not med school. The school is a state school that is a little more on the expensive side. I wouldn't mind attending a cheaper school, but I am from a small town without a University so I would need room and board wherever I transfer. It seems there would have to be a way to to receive enough money to fund the rest of the tuition, but I haven't a clue how. Are there any programs for minorities that I could look into?

I would continue at CC for the time being.
It will not hurt you at all when applying to medical school if you did well and have a legitimate reason.
In the meantime, start hunting down scholarships.

This was what I was planning to do if I could not come up with the rest of the money. Any other suggestions?
