I recently completed my program and am beginning my quest toward licensure. Im acquiring EPPP study materials and also working on getting my supervision squared away.

One of the things they ask for on the forms you send in after youve completed your supervised clinical hours is a list of your goals and quarterly reports on progress towards meeting them.

what kinds of goals did you (or will you) set for what you want to get out of your time between graduation and licensure.

one of mine is supervision of practicum/intern types. i cant think of anything else really. any suggestions?

Here are my goals for the next 2 years:

1. Study for and pass the EPPP. I'm aiming for March or April. I have someone to study with and our dept. is providing materials. Now I just need to start....🙁

2. Get solid training in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology. So far so good. I'm also trying to gain experience in pediatric neuropsychology, though that is TBD how much I'll be able to squeeze in during my time.

3. At least 2 posters and 2 submitted manuscripts for publication. I may get this done in Year 1 as I have some collaborative options and supportive mentors.

I have a few more informal goals like be a reviewer for journal submissions, guest lecture, and make sure I have everything set for the ABPP process. It seems like an endless road, but I'm hoping it goes quickly.

thanks for your reply!

i do have plans to present at a couple of things beginning in January...i didnt realize that could be a goal for my post doc work!

also, how does one become a reviewer for journal submissions?

These are my individual goals for my fellowship, so I'm not sure if there are any "requirements" of your licensing board/organization/other. As for being a reviewer, I have mentors who are tasked with reviewing entries, so I was asked if I wanted to help.

I agree that each of our individual goals will differ, dependent on our professional interests and level of clinical development post-internship. Some of my goals for post-doc are: to gain specialized knowledge and competencies relevant to my interest in working with young adults and/or in university counseling; refining my professional identity and clinical "style" as a therapist; and collecting hours toward licensure and passing the EPPP.🙂

Your mileage may vary...
