What did you do to get the interview? How did you supplement your apps? Was the 6 brought up in the interview? Please help! Thanks guys.

NOT BROUGHT UP! No interviewer has so far asked me anything with regards to my low verbal score. I have not gotten refused a single interview thus far in the process and have received acceptances from stony brook and downstate with a VR of 7. My committee letter explained that the score on the section was a fluke, and so far it hasn't impacted the admissions process for me at all. Don't worry - try to show them all that you have to offer when you interview and in the other aspects of your application.

Just curious, how would your premed committee know whether or not the score was a fluke? Did you show them TPR/Kaplan diag scores or what?

I got my committee letter from the premed offices at my undergrad school to refer to my performance in english classes, on the writing sample (scored S in that), and even the SAT verbal to prove that i wasn't illiterate. I just explained to my advisor what had happened and she included it in the letter. If you're in this boat, you should definitely do the same. Also, i'm pretty sure that your personal statement is actually read at some of these medical schools...if you make it good, it could really make a difference in your application. I don't think the adcoms would ask for an essay if it weren't read. Good luck!

May I ask where you have interviewed? My verbal is low too, and I'm just wondering if I have applied to any of these schools that gave you an interview. Thanks a lot! 🙂

A friend of mine got a 6. I find that extremely weird because she is way smarter in english than me. She got 5's on both her AP exams and an S on the writing portion of the MCAT. She has been doing good in interviews but she got 11's on both other sections.
