Hello everyone,
I just received a letter from USC stating avg. GPA and avg. DAT scores of their previous applicants. They are saying that it's difficult to select students from more than 3,000 competitive applicants.

Did anybody who got accepted to USC receive this letter prior to their interview?

I was just wondering, is that a rejection OR an INTRODUCTION to rejection.

thnx for ur help in advance.

I got that letter a few months ago, and I haven't heard anything from them since. I took it as a rejection.

Come on people 😕

that sounds like a rejection to me... it sounds very similar to the wording of my previous rejection letters.

Why don't you call and ask what it means? You don't have to identify yourself, just ask them if this is, in fact, a rejection.

its not a rejection. i received that letter a month ago before the holidays and, to my surprise, i had an interview invite waiting in my email inbox earlier this week. don't give up just yet!

I'm a bit confused as to why a letter of that nature should be so vague.

If it is indeed a rejection letter, it would be a bit unfortunate that the school chose to tell the applicant in such a unclear manner.

nm!

yay for everyone applying to usc!

I was accepted to USC and never received such a letter... but I would call them and ask them about it for sure.

wouldn't worry too much about that letter. I received a similar letter, could have been the same letter and it was all about how good they are, avg. scores of previous classes, how difficult it is to pick out of such a vast pool, etc. I've since interviewed and gotton accepted. Remember, some people that got accepted into USC are turning them down for other schools (just like any other school) and round 2 is about to start. Wait and see what happens.

I was accepted to USC and won't be going; I know a lot of people who are in the same position. Also, I think I remember them saying USC never rejects anyone, they don't tell any applicant no.

eh? they dont tell any applicant "no?" does that mean that "rejected" people just never hear back?

It is not a rejection letter.

At the bottom of the letter it states that you may follow the status of your application online at the given website. If you were rejected, there would be no reason to give you that access.

I too received the same letter, and one day later received an interview invite. So maybe this is a sign of good things to come!

I have heard of many a school doing this to applicants. A school does not gain that much from rejecting an applicant, but would benefit greatly by keeping their options open for filling a seat until the very end. This means all the way until school starts to make sure the seats are filled.

exact same situation here. Its not a rejection....I thought it was too but I got interview invite this week.

On predents.com there is an "au5233" which I assume is you. It says you will be attending Detroit Mercy. Are you still going to the USC interview?

Ha... nevermind. I see you withdrew a few days ago. Answered my own question.

thank u everyone for ur replies. I guess, I will just wait and see what happens. To be honest, I wouldn't have minded if it was in fact a rejection letter, after all those not so attractive news I've heard about USC and their high tuition.

I have applied to UCLA and USC only, but due to my non-resident status and my low RC score, I do not expect to be able to gain admission into UCLA.

why so few of schools? and why those schools if you're not in-state? A fetish with Los Angeles, perhaps?

Due to my husband's job, we needed to move from Chicago to LA. If I were to stay in Chicago, my acceptance to UIC was 100%, as I graduated from UIC undergrad and was an in-state student. They told me i just needed an avg. score on the DAT to be able to get into UIC Dschool.

i also received that letter but have heard NO news since. hoping for an interview soon though 🙂

any more update???

I actually did recieve a letter like that dated shortly after my interview in October. For some reason, I didn't receive the letter until after my dec 1st acceptance. It obviously has no indication of application status- it just means that you need to be patient
