For those with upcoming interviews...
I just had mine today and just wanted to give you guys some feedback if its worth anything.
I interviewed at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the style was 2 interviewers and just you. They had an excellent staff there and here are some tips I would give you those of you who still haven't had your interviews yet:
1) Be prepared! You don't want to get asked a simple question like "tell me about yourself" and come up blank without an answer
2) Don't be TOO prepared. I made this mistake. I memorized over 50 questions and recited them perfectly. They WILL throw some crazy questions out there and you will really have had no way to prepare for it. And be literally stumbling over your memorized answers for help - DO NOT memorize!
3) Be yourself. Don't try to make yourself seem like someone your not, your interviewers will most likely see through this. I heard some of the interviewers actually making fun of some people who did this.
4) Try not to be nervous. I know the five minutes before the actual interview I was pretty scared for the door to open and them to call my name but once the interview started it was so calmed down and very relaxing - the interviewers were often joking with me about stuff.
5) If you find an opportunity for humor or relating a common interest with your interviewer then TAKE IT. In one of my answers, the last book I read was the same book that my interviewer read a few months ago so we just talked about the book for a while. If I get into the school of pharmacy I believe this was a big help.
6) Don't fidget, point, interrupt or show any signs of nervousness or disrespect to the interviewers.
That's about it... I hope this helped at least someone 🙂
