i am taking a physical chem lab class right now and i missed some days because i was going on my dental school interviews. The teacher is not really wanting to work with me on making things up, so i think i might have to withdraw from it. If you withdraw from a class, do you have to retake it? if you get a bad grade in something that is NOT a prerequisite your senior year, will the dental schools reject you after they've accepted you? i am asking because the class is not offered at my college next semester and i would have to like transfer to another college if i had to retake it. again, it's not a prerequisite but i just wonder what the adcoms are going to think. if they'll reject me after they've accepted me.....:scared:

I asked an admissions lady Monday at UW a similar question, and she basically said that as long as you didn't lie about your criminal record and be discovered by a background check, you won't be dropped. Obviously, you need to finish your prereqs though.

Yeah I DEF agree. We are trying to graduate and make plans for our future... the PURPOSE of coming to college. Going to an interview should be acceptable. If he doesn't let up I would definitely take it to the department if you don't want to drop it. But nicely... so he doesnt fail you.:meanie:

What an ass! Of course, I did know some professors who were like that at my school, also in the chem dept, but making up labs/tests were allowed. I've no idea why this professor is giving you such a hard time.

If you can't get him to work with you, then I'd try talking to the head of the dept. or going to the dean.

Honestly, just finish the class. Who cares what grade you get if you get into dental school. And if you don't then you just tell the schools later on that you did poorly because you were out interviewing and have a jerk teacher. Honestly, I will be happy if I pull out a C from my anatomy class because I have only made it to 4 lectures all semester due to interviews.

it's kind of up to you. For most schools, you don't NEED to finish your degree, but most people choose to do so. I would recommend finishing the class, even if it's with a poor grade.
