Hi everyone,

For a general education requirement, I have the options of taking Japanese, American Sign Language, Spanish, or French. I plan to apply to some of the top medical schools in the country. Which foreign language would look most impressive on applications?

Spanish will be the most useful, but I personally have a lot of admiration for people who can master ASL.

But really, take what interests you the most.

I personally think it would be "impressive" to gain a good grasp of any foreign language during your college years! But yeah, Spanish seems to be most in need.

I wish I hadn't taken French in school. Everyone I have met who speaks French also speaks English. Spanish is the way to go.

ASL is very uncommon and it's very hard to find doctors who sign. My former PCP actually specialized in the deaf community. He had people coming from states away to have him as a doctor because he signed.

But seriously, do whatever you like. Heck I took Latin.
