foreign physician as a scientist?

I come from Poland and completed Medical University in my country, but I would like to do science, especially in cardiology in USA- is it possible to get a position of Phd student? What shall I do to my dream come truth? Sending mails with my cv? Will it be enough? Could enyone help me? thanx

I used to work in a lab with a gentleman from China who completed his MD in his home country. He was hired as a post doctoral fellow here in the US. You may want to try that route if you already have some research experience. Alternatively, yes you could begin a PhD program--there is a woman in my lab with an MD from China doing this currently. But if you qualify for a post doc position, I would skip the PhD as this will take 5 or 6 years to complete. Best of luck to you!
