Hello!

I've been accepted to a few allopathic schools (see mdapps), but I feel like overall my interviewing style has been holding me back throughout this application process. I didn't know I had this big problem until this year, but I'd like to try to rectify my style of interviewing before I interview for residency.

I'm concerned that if I don't get this problem fixed, I won't be able to match at all. :scared:

Can you recommend to me a class or something that I can get one on one help?

Thanks!

Take a chill pill, youll get plenty of opportunity interacting with people 3rd year and this should help you with the more formal interviews when applying for residency.

I'm an M4 applying for residency and I remember feeling the same way during med school interviewing. I felt like it was my weak area. But I interviewed very well during my residency interviews. I felt it was my strong suit. I think the difference was that I had spent 4 years around medical people, especially doctors, and learned to speak the language and really learned their expectations.

Don't sweat it.

Congrats on your acceptances! I would echo what others have said; however, if the end of your 3rd year rolls around and you still feel like you might have trouble interviewing, most med schools will usually do mock interviews with you. Personally I feel like I had terrible interviewing skills as an MD applicant which I would probably chalk up to equal amounts nervousness and inexperience. Once you go through your clinical years though and deal with everything from rampaging toddlers to psych patients and old ladies about to crump then residency interviews are like a walk in the park.

P.S. You're way too early in the game to worry about not matching. How about focusing on getting through anatomy lab? Baby steps dude, baby steps.

bump, like some more responses.

thankie-sai 😛

Yes of course, gloat about your acceptances.

What right do I have to give an MD/MBA advice on interveiwing?! 🙁

cant see your mdapps, but if your were accepted to more then one medical school, then your must not be as bad as you think.

While I agree w/ all of the above, if you really want to get some interviewing practice in, go to your career center. Most university career centers offer mock interviews (often w/ video recording and feedback) for free (or very inexpensively).
