AADSAS asks:
Have you previously, or are you currently applying to a health profession school other than dental school?
If yes, indicate school(s), type of program, year applied, and also indicate if you were accepted and/or enrolled.

I applied to MD schools last year and was rejected by some of them and withdrew from some of them. Should I write this?
If so, what should I write exactly?
Will telling them this hurt my chances for admission?

how did you answer to the question - if you have taken MCAT before ?

AADSAS doesn't ask this, only ADA asks this when you apply for the DAT. And it is a confidential/anonymous question, which can be left blank on the application, so I left it blank. They only use those questions for research purposes. Thanks.

I hope "taking the Fifth", when it is convenient, works out best for you during the interview … good luck

Yes for AADSAS they do not asked, for TMDSAS they will.
Some schools do check and see if you have taken any other tests under your social (MCAT, GRE, etc). It does not take long for them at all. One school did comment on my MCAT score which was a positive comment and I had explained my switch briefly in my P.S.

Dishonesty is never a good start for your career.

@solstice - very well said - especially in a health profession where trust of you by another person (patient) is built on your integrity....

Why did you switch?
I am not applying to Texas schools.
So what should I say exactly?
Thanks

I am afraid that telling them this will hurt my chances for admission.

I don't know how to interpret this statement. Did you get rejected from all MD schools or did you get accepted to some? I'm guessing its the former and you're now using dentistry as a backup. You're gonna have a hard time getting into a dental school if you were rejected by all MD schools, just so you know.

Nothing like applying to professional schools without a professional attitude.

You have facts to back this up? Even if I have above average GPA and DAT?
What if I withdrew my applications?

With all due respect, and dont kill the messenger here, but Ive actually been told that in reality, students who withdrew from medical school or did not want to go to medical school may have an easier time getting accepted to dental school. Many dental schools ask during interviews: why not medicine or nursing or other health careers if you really want to help people? As a result, since I went through the process for medical school, I have a good understanding of what it entails and I saw first hand that it is not the right choice. In essence, I have now eliminated medical school as a choice for a health career and I am choosing dentisty because I like it a lot better and it is my passion. I can answer their question effectively that although I want to help people, I want to do dentistry over medicine because I had the exposure to medicine and I realized medicine is not for me... and I like the many facets of dentistry. Such as, based on my exposures, dentists spend a lot more time with their patients than most doctors, I want to work with my hands, etc. Please do not assume that dentistry is my back up. That is not the case. I simply had a question, and I wanted to know the most effective way of answering it. Thanks.

Absolutely tell them everything, and just have explanations. You were rejected by some and withdrew from others. The real question is, if you were accepted by one, would you have attended? Will you be able to answer this honestly in an interview?? Don't be surprised if you get asked this somewhere along the road.
Applying to medical school is a long tough process. To be a competitive applicant requires lots of studying, preparation, hospital experience, and volunteer work. What was it that deterred you from medicine in the middle of the application cycle, after all your preparation? Don't answer to me by any means, these are just questions that you need to be prepared to answer.
