So, Im less than 24 hrs away from (most likely) getting my final rejection letter. Im not one to believe in things like Taro cards, fortune telling, horoscopes or the like, but theres this place up the road from me that offers those services. What do you guys think? Ever tried 'um? What are your experiences? Total bunk or worth a try?

I leave you alone for FIVE minutes and look what happens!! Do I need to refresh the Care Bear cartoon for you again!??! I don't usually believe in that kind of stuff...but yesterday my mom's horoscope said that she was going to bet good news!! Can't hur!!! t😀

Wanna know what happend when I got curious and asked about my chances of getting into the school I want?

There are numerous temples in Taiwan (my hometown) and most of them offer fortune telling service. Basically you ask the god of the temple whether or not he would give you guidance, if so, you can get a fortune telling stick. You would then try to interpret the poem on the fortune telling stick in respect to your question, kind of like going to an oracle. There's this temple that offers their fortune telling service online, which is weird, but I've heard that it's quite accurate. Out of curiosity and also seeking assurance, I got a fortune telling stick and read its poem--
Basically it said not to waste effort in pursuing things that are not meant to be.

Harsh.

I am still waiting to hear back from my dream school and I am not satisfied with how I did during interview....

Magic 8 Balls must be built to always give me a bad answer. A good friend growing up had one and I always got "Ask again later" or "Never".

i dont suppose it could hurt, but to give you a rundown of how accurate they have been for me... they told my wife and I a couple years before we got married that while we were good together she and I would never make it together... 2 years into the marriage (about 4 years since the reading) we have never been more in love... so yea...

For the most part I think they're total bunk, but I did have Sylvia Brown tell me (when I was 18) about how I was going to meet my husband, when etc.. and oddly enough everything coincided just a she said it would. :scared: Fun for entertainment but I still wouldn't put much stock in it.

I've been to a few psychics...and I think you can immediately tell if they are just bs'ing you or genuinely interested in your questions. You'll know it within the first two minutes. One psychic I talked to about 6 months ago right off the bat said she saw me studying for a big test in the medical area (and I had been studying all weekend for a microbiology exam) before she knew anything other than my name. She also asked me if I was going to be a doctor...and then I said no, but I'm thinking about becoming a veterinarian...and she went into this huge spiel about me doing work over in Europe, researching genetics of Golden Retrievers and figuring out why cancer rates are so much lower in Europe vs. the US. I was pretty shocked because she had no idea I applied to RVC and have spent a lot of time abroad and that my family has always had Goldens. Now I suppose she could have just pulled that out of her a** but it was pretty interesting to say the least.

I think at the very least it is a fun thing to do if you don't mind shelling out the money for it. Its hard sometimes though to decide if you are doing something because someone predicted it, or if its what you really want to do, since you will always have that in the back of your mind. Let me know what they say if you go through with it!

Have you applied to Guelph in Canada? There are 10 more international spaces this year (assuming you're american).

hmmm... I just tried it and at first it told me "Outlook not so good." Thinking that this was surely a mistake, I tried again and it told me "No way!" Good thing I don't believe in any of this stuff!😛

But really I am writing to say that me and my dogs are crossing all of our body parts for you LVT2DVM! I don't think I've ever posted anything directly to you before, but as my SDN addiction is growing I have ended up getting totally sucked into your story and how much you deserve a spot in school next year! I am sure I won't be the only one logging in tomorrow hoping to see good news from you!:luck:

My boyfriend's mom went to a psychic. The psychic told her that she was going to get news of an accident (her son crashed the car the next day), that she was going to be taking a trip soon to someplace she's always wanted to go (she's taking a trip somewhere down south this spring) and that there will be a baby boy entering her life (she started pointing fingers at me and my boyfriend, but now her niece is expecting a child).

My friend's mom had a friend who went to see this same woman. The friend, along with her friends went together. The psychic told them that one of them will die. On the way back from the psychic, they got in a car accident, and one of them died.

I kinda want to see this woman.

When I was a baby, my mother took me to a "psychic" who told her that I had been a healer/doctor in my "past lives" and that I would be a medical doctor again in this life.
My mother told me this once and I LAUGHED my ass off 🙄 (b.t.w. I am a non-trad who has taken a very interesting, unconventional path to get to where I'm at now... until about 4 years ago, going to vet/medical school was the LAST thing on earth I expected to do).

Anyway, here I am 5 months away from starting veterinary medical school... so who knows!??!?!

The magic 8 ball said I would get in... I guess I can take it easy now! 😛

My mom has seen a psychic a few times since I was born. When I was a baby she said I would be involved in journalism... I was actually heavily involved in it in high school and I still consider English/writing to be my real strength. I was the editor of my high school yearbook and I considered a career in journalism until my first year of undergrad. I realized that I really hate having people read what I write! Not the best for a journalist... I always had vet med in the back of my mind anyhow. Two of my best friends are going into publishing, so I may always be somewhat linked to that field.

There were quite a few things she predicted regarding members of my family that were very accurate though. I really love hearing everyone's stories on this thread! It makes me believe that there actually must be something to psychics, even though I still pretty much take it all with a grain of salt. 🙄

LVT: Your horoscope for the day, according to the all-knowing sage called Yahoo...

You have been making a strong, positive impression on powerful people. Keep at it!

So I'm taking this as a good sign! Good luck today!!!!:luck:

Question: Will I get into veterinary school in the United States?
Magic 8 Ball: Yes

I sure hope so 😉
