Anyone know off-hand if Foucar is going to release a new Bone Marrow Path book? Couldn't find anything on the ASCP website...

why? because WHO classification scheme has changed? It hasnt.

I have no clue why her publisher would put out a new edition frankly.

There is an English text called Blood and Bone Marrow Pathology which isnt half bad. Combined that with the new Kjsel. book, and you are doing well.

Maybe throw in that flow cyto book that comes with a CD and the Ioachim node book and you are gtg.

the current WHO classification is out-dated. a new one is set to come out in 2008 with many changes. a draft of it can be found at: http://socforheme.org/new.htm

i dont know about her bone marrow text, but i heard she is working on a new afip heme fasicle.

as for other books for heme, kjsel. is simple not adequate, and i havent read ioachim. i recommend the new heme books by eric hsi for some lymph node and bone marrow (still not adequate by itself though) and by wojciech gorczyca for some flow (excellent book, but expensive).

I was recently told that this may have been delayed again and may not come out until early 2009. Evidently, the last heme book was delayed for many years, so some of our attendings are less than optimistic. Of course, that one basically rewrote the classification of everything, whereas this new book is more of a tweaking.

Also, thanks for the other suggested books. The more I use the new kjsel, the less impressed I am (however, I want to do heme). It's probably sufficient for most residents.

Holy cow, that flow book is expensive. I might have to hold off on that until next year's 800 dollar book allowance.

Flow Cytometry in Neoplastic Hematology by Wojciech Gorczyca (2006) is now $154.06 at Amazon. That's a 33% reduction from original price. Sadly, I paid the original price. 😡

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with the author or Genzyme (the place he works at). In fact, I cant even pronounce his name.

WTF

LMAO@ "B-cell lymphomas with intermediate features of blah blah"

WTH: DLBCL associated with chronic inflammation? LOL there are like a dozen different types of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma now? DLBCL associated with a night of heavy drinking??

This is great for a laugh.

read between lines: Papa needs a need new house in the French countryside, time to publish new edition...

Actually I think I might have that. Went back to Vegas last weekend. VIP@ Moon at the Palms. Pretty legit--music wasn't annoyingly loud. I highly recommend it as it is also upstairs from the Playboy Club, which is also outstanding. The thing that makes bottle service at a cllub so great is that you know that if you went to Costco you could get that bottle of Stoli or Grey Goose for like $50 instead of $200 with a 3 bottle minimum. /sarcasm
