I'm getting incredibly stir-crazy doing 100% outpatient this year, so to keep my sanity I'm focusing on next year and thinking about what electives I'd like to schedule. My program is very flexible - I can do electives all year, and create my own rotations. I've been surprised by what I've liked and disliked in residency so far, so I'd really like my rotations to be helpful in narrowing down what I'd like to do after residency.

Likes:
Really acutely ill patients - especially psychotic and manic
Fairly predictable schedule and workload (knowing at the beginning of the day roughly how many patients I'll see that day)
Interacting with colleagues
Medications
Lots of variety (I loved changing services every 1-3 months; I get bored quickly)

Dislikes:
Malingerers/antisocials
Sitting in my outpatient office all day (so lonely!)
Psychodynamic psychotherapy

So far I was thinking about setting up an inpatient rotation, and possibly a PHP rotation. Any other ideas?
