Franchising with Dental Practices

Hey guys

So im thinking down the line here and i was wondering about Franchising.

Is it possible to have more than 1 or 2 clinics? Do you have to be a dentist to franchise with dental practices?

Do you know anyone who has franchised ?(as a dentist or not a dentist, if possible)

i was wondering the same thing actually, i've always assumed one dentist owns one practice. But i was on another forum and they were talking about owning/having a stake in multiple group practices

Yes, you can, it's done. Many states have laws the owner must be a dentist and I believe some states don't. But its not as easy as it sounds. You need CAPITAL, organization and the financial plan to make your practice succeed. It also takes out a lot of time and trustful and competent associates working for you.

He hires associates to work, he over sights for a while, and then they get to work the place on their own. They get a feeling of running the place....the stops by part time at each of his clinics and does a little work in each place....

so if he makes 200K from each clinic, he's pulling in 600-800K a year!?

that's all fine and dandy. but i've seen on here from dentists that started their own practice, it's a LOT of work/time/money/heartache. now if you somehow manage to be successful at it, imagine doing it for a second, third, whatever time. probably crazy to do, but it is a business i suppose, and that money rolling in, after practices are all established, can't hurt. i'd try it, might be fun👍

well absolutely, i would be concerned with the level of care if i ever was going to attempt to own more than one practice.

My question is, how do you do this. I mean you can't work at each location at the same time, so do you only work one or two days at each location and hire associates for the remainder of the practices? What happens if that associate decides to leave the practice and start his own? Wouldn't patients rather go to a dentist who they know is going to stay at that practice for a long time?
