I had the Piano, and it was pretty hard, my suggestion would be google stuff about piano, serouisly if u know more about notes and how the damn piano works, u gonna be much comfortable with the passage, and of course if you usually skip the passage, do that, but I think if I had a little bit more information on how the hell pianos work? I wouldnt have that much of problem with that passage 😀

I had both of those passages. I would agree with the google the piano thing as for FRAP there is not a quick fix for it. You have to be a fast reader from years of practice. good luck

From what I heard is that the worst thing you can do is freak your self out when you see the piano passage. It is a little bit harder in the sense that the material is really dry and you have to understand it. Otherwise it's like any other passage. I heard of people who had it and have done well on it soo........ RELAX

Nope I got a warning for complaining abiout it a coulpe of months ago. ( I got piano on my DAT and I went into a very detailed explanation of why I didnt think it was fair).

I'm a little confused. Is FRAP a question in the bio section or is it a whole passage in the RC? cause when I took the test, I got the bio question but it seems you guys are referring to a passage?

FRAP is a question in the bio section. Tthe test that has that question in the bio section has the ethics passage in the RC (which i personally thought was really not that bad). Piano is a RC passage.

i don't think we are allowed to discuss any further detail on particular questions. honestly, all you can do is put in your best effort. if you think you could have done better, then it wasn't your best effort to begin with. just study hard and you will be fine.

Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) denotes an optical technique capable of quantifying the two dimensional lateral diffusion of a molecularly thin film containing fluorescently labeled probes, or to examine single cells. This technique is very useful in biological studies of cell membrane diffusion and protein binding. In addition, surface deposition of a fluorescing phospholipid bilayer (or monolayer) allows the characterization of hydrophilic (or hydrophobic) surfaces in terms of surface structure and free energy. Similar, though less well known, techniques have been developed to investigate the 3-dimensional diffusion and binding of molecules inside the cell; they are also referred to as FRAP.

This was a common part of the DAT during the summer. The DAT goes on three month rotations, with three versions of the test circulating during those 90 days. After that new tests are created and sent through the system. This is one reason why you need to wait 90 before you can retake the test. People this summer felt that the test version with the FRAP in it was a harder version than the other tests. They began to say they were frapped. Since the tests rotate every 90 days, I have a hard time believing that they people who say they are frapped now really are being frapped. Maybe the test was seporated out and some questions remained while others were rotated. I think the term frapped has almost taken on a further meaning of a hard DAT, specifically a hard reading comprehension section. Other sections that have been notably hard have been the piano section and the ethics section. Anyways, this can all be seen by simple searches of this forum. Try not to start new threads unless you have already searched for you answer.

You can discuss what is the FRAP technique to your hearts content. Just as you can talk about the inner workings of a piano all day long. But you aren't allowed to mention what the RC passages contained, what kinds of questions were asked, or answers to them. 🙂

OK, so you say the photo bleaching is in the bio section, so that means its just a regular multiple choice question...right? So why is everyone talking about the FRAP question? Is it because it happens to be something most people don't have much prior knowledge about? Or is it simply because the test w/the FRAP question is the test with the ethics RC passage which people have found to not be bad?

I'm retaking on wed. and I had the piano passage before, I don't remember my other ones, but I didn't find any of my passages very challenging, then again as mentioned above i really don't know which questions i got right and wrong.

The bioethics passage is considered harder because it has a lot of tone questions, and search and destroy doesn't work very well for this type of passage.

Don't hassle over the passages. Your raw score will be curved plenty. For the FRAP question, understand the most basic concept of FRAP but don't bother studying it in detail.

I didn't have the FRAP question so I am just speculating based on the 40 Qs I saw in my test.

The Frap question is only one question out of 40.. don't worry about it too much, just google it before hand

Also for the "hard" reading passage.. my advice is to not waste time reading the entire passage and then answering the questions.. read the questions and go look for the answer.. it works!
