My friend just told me that he had an 80 PERCENTILE on Uworld, the reason I'm freaked out is because the whole time I thought he was talking about his Uworld average score. When most people say their Uworld score are they saying the % of quesitons they get correct on avg or their percentile score?

Also an 80 percentile is considered what in terms of average number of questions correct?

I don't think the percentiles on UWorld mean all that much. Like say you get 100% correct on a certain topic... it's like 90th percentile.

People mean their % correct when they say 80% with regards to UWorld.

your friend getting 80% shouldn't freak you out. I bet he is referring to percent of questions correct. 70% is about 80 percentile

Yeah, a 80% correct on uworld is probably around 90th percentile. just finished today actually @ 76% which is 84th percentile.

Starting around 50% isn't bad. the last comment on the official 2012 step 1 thread started at fifties, ended in 70s and scored a 244 after 4.5 weeks or so. Stick to it man... long road head of both of us.

dude, it really doesn't matter. 80% correct average on Uworld is probably around 90th percentile. you really care a lot...

I'm just wondering. It was just a question of me wondering what mean score would correspond to an 80tile, not that big of a deal

I finished my first run today. 70% = 77th percentile.

But really why is it important what %/percentile yr friend is getting? U should know by now that scores in med school are relative. Same ppl who say they are scoring 80-90% on uworld do so in timed tutor mode and /or by systems....which obviously gives u an advantage if you are a. Not worried about time running out and b. Have an idea of what the questions must be asking becuz u know what system its targeted to.

Just get thru the qbank, at ur speed. Whatever percent u get is irrelevant.

haha ye I guess I just wanted confirmation with someone who could give me concrete numbers, aka i had a 55 average 50th percentile etc
