Hey Freddy, Im a TX apllicant, I was wondering if you dont mind sharing what kind of stats you had? If you dont feel like sharing them its ok and if you want to just email I would be greatful and appreciative.

3.6 with 23/14. While some suggest my career is doomed, other schools assure me they can "teach a chimpanzee to carve teeth." I don't know if this was a compliment or a polite way of suggesting my perception approximates that of a primate!

At any rate, I suspect if the PAT were a true indicator, there would be less disagreement about its usefulness.

I took the canadian dat 3 times for the stupid carving portion and I scored an 11, 7 and 15 and on the PAT scored 14, 16, 16. Just to let you know I am graduating from dental school this may and although I struggled a bit with freshman labs by sophmore year I was doing well above average in lab practicals.

Handskill is all about practice, but if you don't have the brains, there is nothing anyone can do to help you.

A 14 on the PAT is okay, the only school that specifically used that statistic as a major factor in determining admissions was Northwestern and they have since closed. The preception portion of the test is BS in my eyes, especially when you are trying to compare angles on a curved screen monitor as I did in my testing center. I got a 21 on the academic and a 18 on the PAT but my friend got a 18 Academic / 12 PAT and still got in, and was told not to worry too much about his PAT score during the interviews at Univ of Iowa & U of Mich.
