I understand how intensive most SMPs are, but how much time is left for other activities (work, family, volunteer, etc.)?

I am specifically curious about Georgetown and how much free time the students have, but any answers from students in other programs is also welcome.

I was in the Gtown SMP. The first semester I actually remember having a fair amount of free time, though nothing compared to what I had in college. However if you manage your time well you and study the material everyday then you could have some time during to weekend to go out. The second semester though I really did not have free time, esp during physiology. I think during that time I studied from the time class ended (around 1) to 12 am everyday and still I felt overwhelmed. Overall though I'm really glad I got to do the program because it really taught me how to time manage and really learned alot, not only about medical school but about myself to. 🙂

i'm in the BU medical sciences program and it's very intense however, if you manage your time well you have some free time. i treat it like a full time job and am on campus by 8 everyday and leave around 6-7. the evenings are reserved for working out and keeping my life in order! i study on the weekends a fair amount but feel like i'm able to go out to dinner with friends or what not fairly often.

What's up with the BU masters in medical sciences, does it have a direct linkage? I e-mailed the school and never heard back.
