I am currently a Freshmen undergrad. I was wondering, i am a BIO major but i was to much into the college life my freshmen year and i received a C- in first Bio class and a C in the second semester of the class. In Chemistry i received a D then a C+ in the second semester. But i am thinking of switching my Major to Business because i am really interested in Business and i took a MGT class this semester and received a B+Will this effect me getting into MEd School?? Because My Goal in the End is to get into MED SCHOOL and then become a Cardiologist specializing in peds. I volunteer one day a week at the local hospital at the CVOR PREOP this is where my intrest in helping others comes from.

PLEASE SOME ADVICE!!😎

if you are sure about medical school, your major will not affect you; only your grades will. you may find it helpful to change to a major you can/will do well in. however, you should also note that college is a time of learning (mostly about yourself) and the major you pick might dictate what type of people you will meet and the type of conversations you will be engaged in. do take a moment to think about what you will enjoy. you do not have to be a bio major to go to med school.

you do have to, however, pull your grades up. you have a lot of time

It's important to excel in the prerequisites, as the MCAT draws from that material. You might want to consider repeating some of that coursework. Otherwise, get high grades from now on and there's a good chance your GPA and BCPM GPA could be high enough for you to be competitive during the med school application process.

Major does not matter. But those are some really poor grades. You really have no room for error from now on. Buckle down and get to work, and see where you stand GPA-wise year or two from now.

Thank you all for some adivce. I switched my major today into Business with a minor in BIO and i will be taking all the pre-requisites i need for medical school. But do you think my freshmen year grades will effect my chances of getting in? retaking the BIO class i think i am going to do thank you for adivce again.

In the future i look to apply to a school that offers a dual degree in M.D./ M.B.A do you think this undergrad. major will help?

If you repeat the courses where you got low grades and get your GPA up, you'll be fine. But Bs are not going to be good enough; you need to get As. Your GPA is in a fairly deep hole right now. Every B you get from now on will delay you from getting a competitive GPA. The average person getting into an MD school has a 3.65 GPA. The average for DO schools is 3.4+.
