Freud and Cocaine

I'm sure most are aware of this, but this is still an interesting article:

Really makes me wonder how much of Freud's theories of the Id and the pleasure principle were driven by his cocaine use. If cocaine was making him hypersexual, then it seems reasonable that would have influenced his world view.

I think some people either worship Freud or think he was an oversexed sexist user.

I think he was obviously a smart man and did create an interesting field, one that is quite unique. Psychoanalysis, though, is here to stay. For one thing, the original version is almost nonexistent and the field keeps evolving and trying to adapt itself. Also, it is used in literary criticism quite often.
