Something that doesn't happen everyday. Vortioxetine (Brintellix) was apparently getting prescribed/dispensed as ticagrelor (Brilinta) due to brand name similarities. Yesterday the FDA approved a name change to 'Trintellix'

I'm skeptical that a once daily antidepressant gets prescribed/dispensed as a BID antiplatelet agent enough to warrant this...

I just refer to it as vortioxetine...paroxetine, fluoxetine, Duloxetine, reboxetine (for you international druggists), atomoxetine. Just can't stand the brand names without any creativity. Then again Brintellix sounds like brilliant...oh wait there's already Intelence (etravirine) as in intelligence. Sounds like a LASA lawsuit

Omeprazole was originally called Losec (and still is in some countries) and was changed to Prilosec when too many people were getting Lasix instead.

When it came out, it was $6 a capsule, and this was ca. 1990.

The 2 is confusing, especially when the doctor writes sloppy, especially in a hospital setting when we don't deal with brand names and have to figure out a patient's home med list. I am glad for the change.
