Most doctoral programs only require a bachelors not a masters. There are also many MD programs that enroll right out of high school as well Boston University, George Washington U., University of Rochester, etc. Its not like these programs are the ordinary 4 years many are 2+4 schools where the students still have to learn the undergraduate material and then advance into the medical program. I think it really is pretty difficult to tell if an 18 year old really knows they want to be a pharmacist or doctor but the capacity to learn can already be demonstrated. Its the maturity and preparedness coming straight out of high school which seems very questionable but then again a lot of graduate students can have maturity and preparedness issues as well.
