Okay guys.
I am a citizen of South Korea and a permanent resident of the US, but I mistakenly submitted my AMCAS, having listed my citizenship as Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
This is gona sound stupid, but I made the same mistake on my last year's AMCAS, I applied to medical school last year, received a few interviews, and I'm sitting on a few waitlists now, with no acceptances.
Last year, no one ever mentioned anything about North Korea during my interviews or anything.
I'm not blaming my application failures on that mistake or anything, as I doubt that admissions people even noticed it at all, but it's just that I've submitted my AMCAS for this year, without being aware of the mistake, and I just found out a few days ago.
I called AMCAS and asked them if I could change it, but they said nothing can be changed after the app is submitted, and that I could contact individual schools and inform them of my mistake.
So, my question is, should I call each school and inform them of this?
On one hand, I think that I should, since it's not just any country, North Korea has one of the worst reputations in the world.
On the other hand, I'm thinking that admissions people don't even pay attention to the nationality as long as I'm a green card holder, and callin them to inform them of this will make me look stupid.
Sigh......If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Being a citizen of North Korea should not hurt your chances by law. But I think you should still call the schools and fix your problem because you are technically lying on your application.

You could always threaten to invade the schools that won't take you. Just kidding.

Good luck, comrade.

that sounds like a legit mistake since they add "democratic" in the front...why not just list north and south Korea? People's republic of China is China, republic of China is Taiwan but Taiwan aint a country, why not just distinguish countries by their common names? But I'd definitely call schools because you cannot prove that you are a citizen of North Korea, and like previous poster said, that'd be lying...ya you will look stupid calling, but you did make the mistake twice, and needs to be corrected

lol I think they'll figure it out, since "north korean" residents are prisoners that are not allowed out of the country... as far as they know, they live in a socialist paradise under the great leader that the rest of the world envies... the only north koreans living outside the country are defectors ...
